Job Title Low Voltage Lead Technician

Job Summary The Communications Technician II must perform the technical responsibilities of a Cable Installer and serve as a lead member of a technical team, coordinating small groups of installers and ensuring adherence to company safety and quality standards.

Job Duties and Responsibilities

Install floor or wall work area outlets, terminate CAT 3 & CAT 5 jacks, mount face plates and surface‑mount boxes in accordance with IES COMMERCIAL labeling standards.

Build cable closets: mount and install backboards, cross‑connects, racks, patch panels, fiber optic and hardware.

Install grounding for racks, equipment and cable as required.

Complete IDC connections (terminate 110/66 blocks and patch panels). Perform continuity tests, voltage testing, troubleshooting of opens, shorts and pair transpositions using tone sets and volt‑ohm meters.

Identify active voice or data circuits.

Lead crew performance, provide training, coordinate personnel and timelines to complete projects.

Maintain accurate IES COMMERCIAL paperwork: timesheets, material transfers, work orders, change orders and tool transfers.

Adhere to all company, customer and industry quality and safety standards and regulations.

Qualifications Physical and Mental Requirements:

Self‑motivated, professional, positive approach to work.

Proven problem‑solving and critical‑thinking skills with effective written and oral communication.

Ability to work at heights, off a ladder and in confined spaces; lift up to 50 lb and move up to 75 lb.

Good color vision, reading small print, hearing audible signals such as dial tones.

Willingness to travel within the branch territory and/or regional territory as needed.

Regular attendance mandatory.

Tools:

Screwdriver (regular & Phillips), drywall saw, torpedo level, tape measure, snips, pliers, hammer, wrench set, cable stripper, flashlight, gloves, punch tool with 110/66 block blade, tone set, 6/8‑position combo crimp tool.

Education, Certification, License and Skill Requirements:

High School diploma or GED equivalent.

Minimum of 2 years experience in telecommunications or related technical field and ability to supervise others.

Proficiency with listed tools and interpretation of blueprints and project documents.

Knowledge of universal communications color codes.

Meet company minimum driving standards.

Compensation:

Minimum $28,000 / yr. Max $38,000 / yr.
