Job Title: Sous Chef Location: St. Charles, IL Position Type: Full-Time Job Summary
We are seeking a talented and passionate Sous Chef to join our culinary team. As the Sous Chef, you will assist the Executive Chef in overseeing the daily operations of our restaurant’s kitchen, ensuring the highest standards of food quality, presentation, hygiene, and service. This is a hands-on leadership role suited for a dynamic individual who thrives in a fast-paced, high-volume environment. Key Responsibilities
Assist the Executive Chef in planning, preparing, and executing menus for the restaurant, banquets, and special events Supervise and lead the kitchen brigade, ensuring consistency and quality in food preparation and presentation Monitor kitchen inventory, ordering, and receiving of ingredients and supplies while controlling food costs and minimizing waste Enforce health and safety standards, ensuring compliance with local food regulations and hygiene protocols (HACCP) Train, mentor, and motivate junior kitchen staff, fostering a culture of teamwork and excellence Ensure proper equipment operation and maintenance, and report any issues promptly Participate in daily kitchen briefings, menu planning, and coordination with front-of-house staff for seamless guest service Support in managing staff scheduling and labor cost control Step in for the Executive Chef during absences and represent the culinary team when required Qualifications
Culinary degree or diploma from an accredited institution preferred Minimum of 3 years of experience as a Sous Chef or senior kitchen position in a hotel, upscale restaurant, or similar environment Strong knowledge of international cuisine and modern cooking techniques Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays Food Safety Certification (e.g., ServSafe or equivalent) required Job Details
