Job Summary
Solicit, book, plan and coordinate meetings and functions while maximizing banquet space to consistently exceed sales goals. Utilize prospecting skills and strong business sense to consistently exceed catering revenue goals. Report all catering activities and work closely with the Associate Director and Director of Sales & Marketing. Support all Sales, Corporate and Hotel initiatives as needed.
Responsibilities
Solicit, negotiate, and book new and repeat business through sales calls, telemarketing, mailings, networking, etc., while maximizing banquet space to meet or exceed revenue goals.
Execute a territorial marketing strategy to capture the maximum revenue and exceed sales goals.
Plan, upsell and detail meetings/functions with clients including space requirements, times, equipment, menus, themes/decorations; complete contracts, prepare paperwork, coordinate with hotel areas, and resolve issues to ensure quality delivery and customer satisfaction.
Prepare status and period-end reports for management.
Maintain up-to-date knowledge of corporate/hotel procedures, products, and competitive landscape to improve sales strategies and goals achievement.
Respond in a timely manner to incoming catering opportunities for the hotel.
Identify, qualify, and solicit new catering business to achieve personal and hotel revenue goals.
Close opportunities based on market conditions and hotel needs; understand competitors’ strengths and weaknesses and how to sell against them.
Use negotiating skills and creative selling abilities to close on business and negotiate contracts.
Develop relationships within the community to strengthen and expand the customer base for catering sales opportunities.
Manage and develop relationships with key internal and external stakeholders; ensure a high level of customer satisfaction.
Build and strengthen relationships with existing and new customers through sales calls, outside calls, prospecting, entertainment, bridal shows, etc.
Utilize sales resources and administrative/support staff effectively.
Conduct site inspections, create proposals and contracts as required.
Demonstrate excellent telephone sales skills and overall sales capabilities.
Understand contract management and legalities; possess operational knowledge of operations challenges.
Have basic knowledge of food and beverage compositions; stay informed on food trends and menu planning; design catering sales solutions creatively.
Understand food and beverage forecasting and attrition; align with Revenue Management Team strategies.
Follow Free Sell guidelines and sales strategies as specified by leadership.
Achieve team and individual goals; possess software knowledge (Microsoft Office) and hotel system proficiency.
Participate in professional organizations to maintain visibility and promote sales; perform special projects as assigned.
Due to the nature of the business, perform other duties and special projects as assigned by the supervisor.
Guest Satisfaction
Ensure a high level of customer satisfaction and build long-term relationships to support future revenue growth.
Coordinate and communicate with customers regarding event details; follow up post-event.
Be present with customers during meetings and events and hand off to the Convention Services department for execution; solve problems and offer alternatives as needed.
Lead guest hospitality to ensure consistent, high-level service throughout all phases of hotel events; meet or exceed guest expectations to create loyalty and increase market share.
Set a positive example for guest relations; obtain feedback and respond to issues; review results with leaders and participate in corrective action plans.
Emphasize guest satisfaction in departmental meetings and focus on continuous improvement.
Utilize hotel systems to capture and manage customer information daily.

Apply broad business knowledge and balance short- and long-term perspectives to lead the organization toward goals.

Experience and Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
2 or more years of hotel catering experience or similar industry
Proven track record of consistently providing quality service
Previous leadership experience preferred
Strong verbal and written English communication skills
Knowledge of hotel, Driftwood policies and procedures; catering, food & beverage with banquet knowledge
Skills to manage people and variables in major functions; MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint proficiency
Delphi or other hotel systems knowledge or similar
Strong communication, problem-solving, customer and associate relations, presentation and platform skills
Strong organizational and closing skills; persuasive abilities
Ability to use standard software applications and hotel systems; effective decision-making and influence skills
Physical Demands Frequent walking, standing, sitting, hearing, talking, and smiling. Lifting, pushing, and pulling objects weighing up to ten pounds.
