Job Summary
Solicit, book, plan and coordinate meetings/functions while maximizing the banquet space to meet/exceed sales goals. Utilize prospecting skills and strong business sense to consistently exceed catering revenue goals. Report all Catering activities to the Director of Catering Sales or Director of Sales & Marketing. Support all Corporate and hotel initiatives as needed.
Responsibilities
Solicit, negotiate, and book new and repeat business through sales calls, telemarketing, mailings, networking, etc., while maximizing banquet space to meet/exceed revenue goals.
Execute a territorial marketing strategy to capture maximum revenue and meet/exceed sales goals.
Plan, upsell and detail meetings/functions with clients including space, times, equipment, menus, themes/decorations; complete contracts and paperwork; coordinate with hotel areas; resolve issues to ensure quality delivery and customer satisfaction.
Prepare status and period end reports for management.
Maintain up-to-date knowledge of corporate/hotel procedures, products, and competitive landscape to continually improve sales strategies.
Respond to incoming catering opportunities; proactively identify, qualify, and solicit new catering business to achieve revenue goals.
Close opportunities based on market conditions and hotel needs; understand competitors’ strengths and weaknesses and how to sell against them.
Develop relationships with community, internal and external stakeholders to expand catering sales opportunities.
Ensure a high level of customer satisfaction and service quality; manage contracts and relationships with clients and hotel teams.
Conduct site inspections and create proposals and contracts as required.
Possess excellent telephone sales skills and strong overall sales capabilities; understand contract management and food & beverage concepts.
Demonstrate knowledge of food trends and event planning; participate in revenue management strategies and follow relevant guidelines.
Utilize software and hotel systems (e.g., Microsoft Office; Delphi or similar) and maintain effective communication with team members.
Engage in professional organizations to promote sales; perform special projects as assigned; may be required to take on other duties as needed.
Guest Satisfaction
Ensure a high level of customer satisfaction and build long-term relationships to support future revenue growth.
Coordinate and communicate event details with customers; follow up post-event; greet clients during events and hand off to Convention Services for execution.
Provide leadership in guest hospitality and ensure services meet or exceed expectations, creating loyalty and market share growth.
Interact with guests to obtain feedback on product quality and service; respond to problems and implement corrective actions as needed.
Review Guest Service Results with leaders and implement continuous improvement measures.
Emphasize guest satisfaction in departmental meetings and maintain daily customer information in hotel systems.

Experience, Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
2 or more years of hotel catering experience or similar industry.
Proven track record of delivering quality service; previous leadership experience preferred.
Strong verbal and written English communication; knowledge of policies and procedures; banquet knowledge.
Ability to manage people and events, with proficiency in MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint; Delphi or similar systems preferred.
Strong problem-solving, presentation, and organizational skills; effective decision-making and influence.
Physical Demands Frequent walking, standing, sitting, hearing, talking, and smiling. Lifting, pushing, and pulling objects up to 10 pounds.
