P.J. Salvage is seeking a Senior E-Commerce Merchandising Manager to drive the digital merchandising strategy and execution of our DTC business. This role will take ownership of product set up, site merchandising, assortment planning, and buying preparation, ensuring that the customer experience is optimized across every touchpoint. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented with a sharp eye for product presentation, a deep understanding of e-commerce operations, and proven experience in building strategies that convert browsers into buyers. Responsibilities
Product Set Up & Catalog Management
Lead the end-to-end set up of new products in Shopify, including data accuracy, imagery, product descriptions, pricing, and categorization. Partner with creative, marketing, and operations to ensure all product assets and details are complete and aligned with brand standards. Maintain and continuously optimize the online product catalog across all sales channels, ensuring accuracy and consistency.
Site Merchandising & Optimization
Own site merchandising strategies: product hierarchy, categorization, navigation, and seasonal refreshes to enhance discovery and maximize conversion. Develop and implement bundling, cross-sell, and upsell opportunities to increase AOV and customer engagement. Continuously analyze product performance and customer behavior to refine assortment presentation, landing pages, and promotions. Oversee homepage, collection pages, and promotional content updates in alignment with seasonal campaigns and brand initiatives.
Buying & Assortment Preparation
Partner with the buying team to plan and forecast seasonal assortments, aligning online product offerings with customer demand, brand positioning, and financial goals. Prepare and maintain buy templates, capturing detailed product information, launch timelines, inventory depth, and merchandising priorities for the e-commerce channel. Use data insights — including sell-through, conversion trends, and customer analytics — to influence buy decisions, inventory allocations, and replenishment strategies. Balance storytelling with commercial results by ensuring the product mix supports both brand narrative and sales performance. Collaborate cross-functionally to ensure timely product launches, accurate availability, and seamless integration of buys into the digital merchandising calendar.
Customer Experience & Conversion
Collaborate with development teams to drive site enhancements, UX improvements, and conversion rate optimization initiatives. Conduct A/B and multivariate testing to refine site merchandising, product placement, and promotional strategies. Monitor site performance and proactively resolve merchandising-related issues to ensure a seamless shopping experience.
Leadership & Cross-Functional Collaboration
Partner with the E-Commerce Director on strategic merchandising planning, promotions, and product roadmaps. Serve as the primary liaison with Marketing, Operations, and Customer Service to ensure merchandising strategies align with broader e-commerce initiatives. Manage external partners and vendors supporting digital merchandising, SEO, and site operations.
Analytics & Reporting
Provide regular insights on product sell-through, conversion trends, and merchandising performance, recommending actionable improvements. Track KPIs including product visibility, conversion rates, AOV, and sell-through to guide future merchandising and buying strategies.
Requirements
Minimum of 5 years of E-Commerce merchandising experience, preferably in a high-growth DTC brand environment. Strong expertise in Shopify (or similar platforms) with advanced knowledge of catalog management and product set up. Demonstrated experience in buying support and assortment planning, including preparation of buy templates and influencing financial decisions. Proven ability to blend analytical skills (data-driven insights, forecasting, KPI tracking) with creative merchandising (storytelling, product mix, seasonal strategy). Experience leading site merchandising strategy including product categorization, hierarchy, and promotional planning. Familiarity with digital tools such as Google Analytics (GA4), GTM, and A/B testing platforms. Excellent project management, organizational, and communication skills with a collaborative, solution-oriented approach. This is a hybrid role , with 4 days in our Irvine, CA office.
