Senior Designer – Humana Location: Washington, DC, United States

This role is part of Humana’s evolving marketing organization to better acquire and engage members through data‑driven, technology‑enabled and personalized communications. The in‑house agency team, known as the Hive, is a vital part of this transformation.

The Senior Designer (internally known as a Senior Professional, Creative Development) plays a critical role in shaping the strategic direction of marketing communications for the Humana brand portfolio. This position demands a deep understanding of brand strategy, advanced writing skills and business acumen to develop content that supports key organizational objectives. You will utilize data analysis to inform creative decisions and emerging technology to develop creative concepts, integrated campaigns and brand expression across all media.

As a steward of the brand identity, you will drive strategic differentiation, brand consistency, and quality standards across channels, acting as a strategic advisor and creative partner to internal and external stakeholders. Success requires advanced presentation skills, the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines, and the judgment to incorporate stakeholder feedback while maintaining the integrity of the work.

Base Pay Range $78,400.00/yr – $107,800.00/yr

Key Role Functions

Translates objectives defined in a strategic brief into a broad range of compelling creative concepts for integrated marketing campaigns.

Collaborates with cross‑functional teams to develop marketing creative for all media, including email, web, direct mail, OOH, print, SMS, social, and video.

Develops stimuli for consumer testing and uses data insights to inform creative solutions.

Leverages technology and GenAI to generate concepts, adapt creative controls, and accelerate content delivery.

Fosters a collaborative creative culture and provides constructive critique to design peers to elevate outcomes.

Works in an agile flex model and is capable of executing work at any stage of the creative development process.

Presents creative work, articulating the strategic rationale behind creative choices.

Integrates stakeholder feedback to advance creative solutions.

Manages multiple complex projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines and maintaining high‑quality standards.

Stays informed on industry trends and best practices for advertising, digital marketing, and copywriting.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Design, Advertising or a related creative field.

5+ years of professional experience in a creative agency environment.

Industry‑competitive portfolio that demonstrates advanced skills developing a broad range of creative concepts against a strategic brief.

3+ years of experience developing content for digital channels, including email, web, and social media.

Proven ability to independently advance the creative development process, from low‑fidelity prototyping concepts through final production, across a broad range of media.

Advanced communication skills and ability to deliver a persuasive creative presentation.

Proficiency with industry‑standard design tools, including Adobe Creative Suite and Adobe Firefly.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience developing design systems.

Familiarity with object‑based design and developing assets for content delivery platforms.

Experience with video storytelling and production process.

Experience with Agile methodologies and operating models.

Proficiency with Lucid.

Proficiency with Figma.

Proficiency with Adobe Express animation.

Proficiency with After Effects video production.

Additional Information

Agency located in Louisville, KY; qualified applicants will be considered for remote work.

Occasional travel may be required.
