Job Responsibilities Serves as Academic Program Director for the College's Engineering Technology Program, including duties of providing systematically planned and delivered instruction, designing and developing program and curriculum, tracking and managing fiscal affairs related to program, providing assistance to the administration through committees and other activities, and advising and evaluating students. Teaches classroom and laboratory-based college-level engineering technology and/or engineering-related courses in the electrical, mechanical, civil, advanced manufacturing, mechatronics, or engineering-related fields of study.

Job Responsibilities:
Teaching Performance - Demonstrates ability to present course materials through appropriate instructional strategies to facilitate the learning process.
Program Curriculum and Personnel - Assists the Dean with curriculum development and personnel issues. Examines program/course content to achieveprogram and College's outcomes goal. Evaluates program to include curriculum development, course/program implementation and/or elimination.
Budget, Property, and Inventory - Assists the Dean with budget and property. Responsible for the development, tracking and management of budget andfiscal affairs related to areas of responsibility, to include forecasting personnel and equipment needs.
Instructional Development and Management - Develops, revises, and maintains courses, syllabi, lesson plans, and curriculum. Manages and controls classroom activities. Observes required office hours. Timely and accurately submits grades and reports.
Student Advisement - Advises students by assisting students in personal and professional development and providing academic guidance to assignedadvisees and students enrolled in classes.
Professional Development - Participates in professional development activities, both internally and externally, to expand knowledge and skills. Participates in college activities, including committees and teams, recruitment, and promotional events, and promotes the college through public service. Minimum and Additional Requirements

A bachelor's degree in engineering technology, electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, civil engineering, industrial engineering, or engineering-related field of study with a minimum of two (2) years work experience in an engineering-related occupation. Must have a valid driver's license.NETC Preferred Requirements: A master's degree in engineering technology, electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, civil engineering, industrial engineering, or engineering-related field of study, five (5) years of experience in the engineering technology field, a professional engineering license, and experience teaching at a community or technical college. Supervisory work experience or team leadership and experience in mechatronics, robotics and/or workplace automation is a plus.

Preferred Qualifications

Must be knowledgeable of (or willing to learn) effective teaching concepts and adherence to current college policies. Must be able to adhere to designated work schedule and be able to attend and participate in meetings and/or conferences as scheduled. Ability to establish good working relationships with students, faculty, alumni, workforce partners, businesses, and others in the college community. Ability to maintain a high level of excellence in instructional effectiveness and classroom management by communicating and interacting effectively with students enrolled in program courses. Knowledge of the engineering technology field to include a specialization in electrical/electronic engineering, mechanical engineering, industrial engineering or related engineering technology field of study. Ability to facilitate courses with a hand-on component to enhance and promote critical thinking, problem-solving, work-based and applied learning.

Additional Comments

Employee will be able to work under limited supervision provided by the Dean of Workforce Development and Continuing Education in the performance of teaching and advising responsibilities. Employee is expected to demonstrate independence and discretion in teaching practice and student advising. Teaching environments include classroom and lab. Local travel to business/industry and community campuses required. Some short-term travel may be required for professional meetings. Professional development may require some overnight stays. Teaching locations may include State, Federal, and Juvenile correctional facilities, high schools, community campuses, industry and community sites.
