Software Engineer, Android Responsibilities

  1. Research, design, develop, and test operating systems-level software, compilers, and network distribution software for user interfaces, infrastructure, and/or tools supporting applications on Android using the Android SDK.
  2. Work closely with product and design teams to build new and innovative application experiences for Android.
  3. Build custom native user interfaces using the latest Android programming techniques, addressing problems of moderate scope.
  4. Build reusable Android software components for interfacing with back-end platforms, following general instructions on routine work and detailed instructions on new projects.
  5. Analyze and optimize UI and infrastructure application code for quality, efficiency, and performance to resolve a variety of issues.

Minimum Qualifications

  1. Master’s degree (or foreign degree equivalent) in Computer Science, Computer Software, Computer Engineering, Applied Sciences, Mathematics, Physics, or related field.
  2. At least 2 years of work experience in the relevant field or job.
  3. 2 years of experience building Android applications in Java using Android SDK.
  4. Experience in maintaining and testing codebases, including API design and unit testing techniques.
  5. Knowledge of multithreading programming and mobile memory management.
  6. Proficiency in C, C++, and Java.
  7. Experience with software development tools like code editors (VIM or Emacs) and revision control systems (Subversion, GIT, or Perforce).
  8. Experience with Linux, UNIX, or other *nix-like OS, demonstrated through file manipulation, advanced commands, and shell scripting.
  9. Ability to build highly scalable and performant solutions.
  10. Knowledge in data processing, programming languages, databases, networking, operating systems, computer graphics, or human-computer interaction.
  11. Application of algorithms and core computer science concepts to real-world systems, recognizing and matching patterns across different areas of computer science in production systems.

Compensation & Benefits

$222,186/year to $240,240/year + bonus + equity + benefits. Compensation varies based on skills, qualifications, experience, and location. Benefits details are available at Meta.
