What does it mean to be a Director, Capital Markets at GLS?
The Director, Capital Markets functions within the Treasury & Capital Markets team and is responsible for managing the Company’s loan sale program, including identifying new investors, marketing and administering the program, structuring and negotiating transactions, executing loan sales, maintaining relationships with program partners, and leading analyses as required to support all aspects of the program.
How will you drive value within the organization as a Director, Capital Markets?
- Raise capital to support the Company’s financial plan, working closely with stakeholders, FP&A, and Treasury & Capital Markets
- Market the loan sale program to new potential investors
- Structure, negotiate, and close loan sale transactions with whole loan program partners
- Manage the renewal of, and amendments to, existing loan sale agreements
- Manage ongoing loan sales, coordinating closely with the ABS team to leverage loan buyer assets efficiently
- Lead and direct analytical activities, including cash flow modeling, as required to optimize deal structures, predict investor returns, address investor questions
- Work closely with Treasury Operations to ensure the loan sale program is properly and efficiently administered
- Assist in the enhancement of reporting processes to loan sale partners and ensure partners receive timely and accurate information; prepare financial reports as needed
- Build and maintain relationships with loan buyers through effective communication and strong conceptual knowledge of both the GLS business and the various loan sale structures
- Monitor program, loan pool, and facility performance, anticipate potential issues, and develop remediation plans
- Follow market trends, particularly in the loan sale and credit markets, to provide strategic input on deal structures and financing options
- Direct the due diligence process with prospective loan buyers
- Identify and correct operational issues across all loan sale processes, from onboarding to closing and continued reporting on transactions
- Work closely with internal departments to evaluate new products and markets for potential inclusion in the loan sale program
- Train and develop junior team members
- Perform special projects, research, and other duties as assigned
What should you already know to be successful as a Director, Capital Markets?
- This position requires a bachelor’s degree in business, economics, finance, or related field and a minimum of 5 – 6 years of finance experience, preferably in capital markets, and asset-backed finance or investment banking
- Strong knowledge of capital markets, structured finance, accounting, and interest rate hedging
- Familiarity with SQL and experience working with large datasets
- Demonstrated problem solving ability and strong analytical skills
- Detail-oriented, quick learner with ability to work independently and in cross-functional teams
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong team player able to thrive in a fast-paced growth environment
