Compensation: $200,000 - $300,000 OTE
Billable Requirement: 225+ Hours Monthly

About the Opportunity
HireNow Staffing is partnering with a respected California-based workers compensation defense firm in search of a strategic, client-facing Managing Attorney to lead their San Francisco office. This is a hands-on leadership role where you'll balance a manageable caseload with oversight of a legal team, while also serving as the key driver of client satisfaction, attorney performance, and office growth.

Your Role Will Include
Leadership & Team Management
Lead a team of staff attorneys, paralegals, and legal assistants providing ongoing coaching, support, and case strategy oversight.
Promote accountability and excellence across the team, ensuring deadlines, billing targets, and client expectations are consistently met.
Take charge of attorney recruitment, performance reviews, and development planning.
️ Active Case Management
Manage your own docket of workers compensation defense files from inception through resolution.
Conduct depositions, negotiate settlements, draft legal opinions, and appear before the WCAB as necessary.
Ensure that your caseload reflects high-quality, ethical representation for a variety of clients insurers, TPAs, and employers.
Client Engagement & Growth
Build strong, trusting relationships with existing clients, while identifying opportunities to expand services.
Represent the firm at industry events, panels, or conferences to raise visibility and attract new business.
Collaborate with firm leadership on marketing efforts and strategic client outreach.
️ Operational Oversight
Monitor risks, resolve escalations, and ensure alignment with firm-wide policies and performance standards.
Identify workflow inefficiencies and introduce best practices to improve case cycle time and team productivity.
Utilize case management software (MerusCase preferred) to ensure proper documentation and billing practices.
Ideal Candidate Profile
To succeed in this role, you'll bring more than just technical expertise you're someone who is proactive, people-focused, and eager to build a high-performing office culture.
Required Experience & Qualifications:
6+ years of workers compensation defense litigation experience in California
Currently licensed to practice in California and in good standing
Proven leadership background you've supervised other attorneys and legal support staff
Demonstrated ability to manage complex caseloads while mentoring others
Strong command of California WCAB procedures and statutes
Excellent written, verbal, and negotiation skills
Business development experience with a track record of maintaining or expanding client relationships
Familiarity with MerusCase or similar legal case management platforms
Must live within a one-hour commute of San Francisco
