Job Description
nThe Sr. Environmental Health and Safety Manager will be responsible for managing the plants occupational safety program (OSHA) in compliance with local, state, and federal regulations. This role will be responsible for safety and environmental administration, injury case management, ergonomic injury prevention, OSHA compliance, technical safety advice and site-wide safety training. The candidate must be a strong influencer with clear communication skills.
nnKey Responsibilities:
n- n
- Subject Matter Expert on all associate Safety Environmental and Regulatory matters, provides coaching and support to two plant teams n
- Development and implementation of site-specific policies and procedures within corporate guidelines for assigned locations n
- Conducts Safety, Environmental and Regulatory audits of multiple facilities in order to evaluate compliance, identify areas for improvement and communicates them directly to the department managers and the Plant Director n
· Oversees site Security services, practices, response and daily operations
n· Manages facility environmental programs in the areas of hazardous waste, Storm Water pollution, and wastewater management
no Creates and tracks relevant KPIs and provides transparency on root-cause environmental problems and potential solutions to management
no Prepares/submits environmental reports in compliance with local, state and federal environmental regulations

- Coordinates training and/or training materials to all plant associates (hourly, leaders, management) in all safety and regulatory programs, documents, and tracks training compliance n
- Leader of the Accident Investigation team, utilizing Root Cause Analysis (RCA) to include Kazen & 5 Why’s or similar techniques to identify causes and corrective actions to prevent similar occurrences n
· Regularly plans, implements and trains site personnel on various EH&S policies and programs, including, but not limited to:
no Safety practices, emergency procedures (CPR, First Aid), fire prevention, lock out tagout, forklift certification, personal protective equipment, and incident investigation

- Assists Plant Leadership in identifying and correcting unsafe behaviors and unsafe conditions to drive a Zero Injury state n
- Administration, documentation, and proper filing of OSHA’s Record keeping Standards 29CFR1904, Accident Reports, 300 Log & Form 301, as well as other Regulatory and Safety Compliance documentation n
· Regularly inspects facility to detect existing or potential accident and health hazards, determines and implements corrective or preventive measures were indicated
n· Refine, track, and share out EH&S key performance indicators (KPIs)
n· Collaborate with Human Resources for return-to-work status from Workers Compensation leaves of absences
n· Support the implementation of a Safety software program
nnRequired Skills/Abilities:
n- n
- Knowledge of OSHA/EPA regulations (29 CFR, 1910 & 1926; 40 CFR) applicable to manufacturing n
- Knowledge of Industrial Hygiene, Labor Relations, Loss Control, Basic Engineering Principles n
- Knowledge of State specific Workers’ Compensation Law/Regulations n
- Completion of OSHA 10 Hour General Industry Course, 30 Hour certification . n
· Excellent oral and written communication skills.
n· Knowledge of lean manufacturing concepts
n· Excellent written and verbal communication skills
nnEducation and Experience:
n· Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Safety, Occupational Safety and Health, or related field required
n· Minimum 5-7 years’ experience in a Safety position, preferably in a manufacturing environment
n· Five years of related experience in food manufacturing
nnPhysical Requirements:
n· Physically able to conduct inspections and carry equipment used for inspections
n· Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer
n· Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds at a time
n· This is a salaried position who must be able to be on-call as needed, might need to work 2nd or 3rd shift
