SUMMARY:

The Clinical staff (CMA, General Clinic RMA, or LPN I) are essential members of the healthcare team, collaborating with other professionals to deliver quality patient care. They are equipped with both administrative and clinical skills, ensuring efficient and cost-effective healthcare services that enhance patient outcomes and quality of life.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

People:

  • Maintain patient satisfaction by effectively scheduling time off and minimizing unscheduled absences.
  • Respond promptly to telephone inquiries regarding department services.
  • Return patient calls in a timely manner.
  • Notify patients of test results according to clinic policy.
  • Ensure a clean and comfortable environment for all patients.
  • Perform all duties efficiently and within designated timelines.
  • Schedule necessary follow-up injections.

Service:

Prepare patients for examinations and procedures, including administering follow-up injections when applicable:

  • Greet and welcome patients.
  • Follow patient verification protocols.
  • Deliver a high level of customer service.
  • Accurately gather and record medical histories, verify allergies, medications, and vital signs per clinic standards.
  • Order, collect, and prepare laboratory specimens as required.
  • Explain treatment procedures thoroughly.
  • Ensure all necessary consents are signed before procedures occur.
  • Draw up and perform injections as instructed by the physician.
  • Conduct vital testing for follow-up patients as needed.

Assist the physician during examinations and procedures:

  • Provide educational materials and aftercare instructions.
  • Supply appropriate equipment.
  • Maintain universal precautions and ensure a sterile environment during procedures.
  • Prepare dressings and clean wounds as directed by the physician.
  • Take necessary photographs as needed.
  • Remove sutures or staples as required.
  • Prepare and administer medications according to physician orders.
  • Order x-rays and cultures.
  • Respond to prescription requests and refills.
  • Perform additional clinical tasks as delegated by the physician.
  • Guide patients to administrative staff or counselors as needed.
  • Prepare pathology forms and collection labels, and log records according to policy.
  • Recognize and respond to emergencies based on policy.

Perform administrative duties:

  • Accurately document patient communications and treatments.
  • Answer phones and manage clinical voice mail messages promptly.
  • Obtain prior authorizations for medications.
  • Help manage KPI reports related to medication reconciliation.
  • Maintain organized task lists and complete charge tickets accurately.
  • Perform other assigned duties as necessary.

Post Operative Follow-up:

  • Contact post-operative patients to check on their recovery.
  • Respond to prescription requests for refills.
  • Provide thorough aftercare instructions to patients.

Quality:

  • Maintain accurate documentation in electronic medical records.
  • Input charges and notes into the system, adhering to policies.
  • E-Fax and call in prescriptions as needed.
  • Complete daily clinical tasks following department protocols.

Maintain rooms, equipment, and supplies:

  • Regularly clean exam rooms and change linens as per clinic policy.
  • Ensure all instruments needing cleaning are secured and stocked appropriately.
  • Dispose of biohazard materials according to guidelines.
  • Assist with ordering clinical supplies and manage inventory.
  • Ensure all equipment is maintained and sterilized per established protocols.

Safety: Ensure Patient & Staff Safety:

  • Follow OSHA guidelines and universal precautions diligently.
  • Provide assistance to patients in need of mobility support.
  • Request help when necessary for patient handling.

Finance:

Contribute to the fiscal management of clinic resources:

  • Help maintain established supply levels and manage inventory effectively.
  • Avoid rush orders to prevent increased costs.
  • Communicate with management regarding any blocks in scheduling.

Growth:

  • Collaborate with MDs and department leaders to enhance clinic services and patient outreach.
  • Share ideas to expand clinic services with the management team.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Graduated from an accredited Medical Assisting, Surgical Tech, or Practical Nursing Program.
  • Current certification or licensure without restrictions.
  • Current BLS Certification is required.
  • Familiarity with infection control, sterile technique, and clinic safety precautions.
  • Proficient use of medical terminology.
  • Strong knowledge of clinical principles and patient outcome measures.
  • Effective administrative skills for managing office practices.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods and move/lift patients or equipment up to 35 lbs.
