Essential Functions:

    n
  • Provide engineering leadership in the following ways:
  • n
  • Provide sustaining engineering support to assigned product lines and helping the on-going cost reduction/product improvement activities.
  • n
  • Support of project teams up through final release of drawings and first production run.
  • n
  • Troubleshooting and resolution of field issues.
  • n
  • Investigation and implementation of significant cost reductions.
  • n
  • Provide regular project updates.
  • n
  • Direct the daily activities of the cross functional team in relation to project work
  • n
  • Maintain high level of knowledge of technical aspects of design or product components/systems.
  • n
  • Support existing products, particularly in area of “expertise”, with Engineering Documentation and day-to-day consultation to Operations, Marketing, Technical Services, etc.
  • n
  • Develop and execute test protocols and plans and risk assessments based on current standards.
  • n
  • Release of prints in a manner (accuracy, completeness, and timeliness) that supports the project timeline.
  • n
  • Execute the build of prototypes and testing.
  • n
  • With direction on specific instance, lead the following activities during the product development process:
  • n
  • Assist in the development of concepts for new products.  
  • n
  • Ensure project runs smoothly achieving specification, financial and timing objectives. 
  • n
  • Creation of the overall project plan in cooperation with functional core team members.
  • n
  • Interface with cross functional management leads to manage functional resource requirements for the project.
  • n
  • Assist design and business reviews during the course of the project
  • n
  • Take responsibility of portion of design assigned.
  • n
  • Participate in periodic review meetings with all functional groups.
  • n
  • Participate in preproduction and design reviews.
  • n
  • Ensure that all product development processes and activities conform to Invacare’s quality system.
  • n
  • Complete all required training applicable to assigned position.
  • n

 Requirements:

n
    n
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical, Biomedical or similar Engineering from ABET accredited institution.
  • n
  • Exhibit positivity, flexibility, creativity, and a willingness to take on new responsibilities as requested or required.
  • n
  • Effective communication skills
  • n
n

Experience:

n
    n
  • Experience in medical device industry is a strong asset.
  • n
  • Solid working knowledge of FDA regulations for Design Controls and cGMPs.
  • n
  • Discipline in initiating, planning, executing, controlling, and closing the work of a team to achieve specific goals and meet specific success criteria.
  • n
  • Proven engineering expertise in specified areas (gear design, motors, component design, manufacturing techniques, etc.).
  • n
  • Knowledgeable in the utilization of; software tools, analysis equipment, measurement tools, measurement techniques, test methods, industry standards, and industry best practices, for related expertise
  • n
  • Experience utilizing Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) in creation of new product designs.
  • n
