Job Title: Surgical Instrument Processing Technician
Shift: 11:00 AM - 7:30 PM
Job Description:
We are seeking an experienced Surgical Instrument Processing Technician to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for the preparation, sterilization, installation, and cleaning of laboratory and healthcare equipment, ensuring all procedures meet the highest standards of safety and quality.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare, sterilize, and clean a variety of laboratory and healthcare equipment.
- Assemble all necessary equipment for surgical operations, examinations, and other medical procedures.
- Perform routine laboratory tasks and operate or inspect medical equipment.
- Organize and assemble both routine and specialty surgical instrument trays, fulfilling special requests as necessary.
- Clean instruments and medical devices in preparation for sterilization.
- Operate and maintain sterilization equipment (steam, ETO, low-temperature gas plasma, peracetic acid, ozone, and dry heat), including record-keeping of loads completed and maintenance procedures performed.
- Record test results from sterilization equipment to ensure compliance with safety standards.
- Disinfect patient care equipment such as infusion machines, DVT machines, and suction pumps.
- Monitor sterilization and processing equipment, observing gauges and operations to detect malfunctions and ensure compliance with operational standards.
- Examine equipment for leaks, worn parts, or any indications of disrepair.
- Verify that sterile supplies are correctly stored to maintain sterility and that packaging remains uncompromised.
- Maintain accurate records of inventory and equipment usage.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience in surgical instrument processing.
- Certification from HSPA (IAHCSMM) is preferred; CBSPD certification will also be accepted.
- Travel experience is highly preferred.
