Staff will be required to float among various radiology clinics and divisions as needed. Operates CT equipment to obtain diagnostic images according to departmental protocol. Ensures the patient is properly prepared, positioned, and uses protective shields as needed. Explains the exam to the patient, considering physical and emotional needs. Delivers patient care within the scope of license and training. Maintains effective working relations and communication with departmental personnel. Calibrates and verifies the operation of all equipment used during the workday. Notifies appropriate personnel of equipment malfunctions and repairs needed. Executes paperwork and performs necessary Radiology Information System functions for each patient exam. Performs venipuncture for contrast administration under the direction of a radiologist. Follows hospital and departmental contrast administration policies and procedures. Attends staff meetings and maintains appropriate continuing education units in accordance with state licensure requirements. May oversee and instruct various personnel and technology students within the department. Prepares the equipment room and necessary supplies for each patient. Stocks and supplies the room as needed. Participates in research programs, quality assurance, and improvement projects within the department. Assumes responsibilities for on-call coverage and remains flexible in shift coverage as necessary. Rotates within the department by shifts as required. Transports and transfers patients using established procedures. Uses independent judgment and initiative under pressure when performing patient exams. Performs all other duties as directed. Must be a graduate of an approved school of Radiologic Technology. Must possess a current state Radiologic Technologist license and be registered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists or equivalent. Must be registered in CT by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists or equivalent. Must possess interpersonal skills sufficient to interact effectively with patients who may be under stress. Must possess analytical abilities necessary to acquire and effectively utilize knowledge of imaging processes, techniques, and cross-sectional anatomy.
