General Position Summary

Our company, with approximately 70 employees, operates multiple US locations and a subsidiary factory in Mexico under a Japanese parent company. We belong to both the auto-parts manufacturing and aerospace-parts distribution industries. This dual-industry environment requires our accounting department to maintain top-tier US GAAP knowledge and accuracy across diverse data sets. We are seeking an assistant manager candidate who demonstrates excellent GAAP accounting knowledge, audit experience, proficiency with accounting software and data management, and strong communication skills with internal teams, external departments, and outside stakeholders. The ideal candidate will be a self-starter, disciplined, team-oriented, responsible, reliable, quick learner, multi-tasker, and proactive. Their primary responsibilities will include hands-on data reporting and verifying the accuracy of data entry by colleagues.

Required Qualifications

  • Intermediate accounting knowledge (4-year college degree)
  • Advanced Excel skills
  • Comprehensive understanding of the relationship among P&L, Balance Sheet, Cash Flow, and Consolidation with subsidiaries
  • Knowledge of ERP accounting software and understanding of the connection between GL, sub-ledgers, and trial balance
  • CPA or CPA candidate is a plus
  • Cost accounting experience is a plus

Essential Job Functions

  • Complete data and financial statement preparation, manage accounts, and support ad-hoc reporting
  • Calculate overhead costs during consolidated financial close, understanding timing, calculation steps, and account relationships; work with condensed financial statements and consolidation packages
  • Respond to management inquiries regarding financial statement figures
  • Manage inventory accounts, perform cost accounting calculations, and reconcile accounts; experience in manufacturing cost accounting is preferred
  • Oversee accuracy of monthly reconciliations, including 360 BS accounts; improve reconciliation processes and utilize ERP data effectively
  • Prepare reports for closing, audit, tax, group companies, and budgeting, based on assigned responsibilities
  • Support daily operations of colleagues, including authorizations, ad-hoc reports, and administrative tasks
  • Modify ERP data as needed for reporting purposes
  • Enhance skills through Excel, accounting seminars, and other relevant training (free online seminars provided)
  • Coordinate and execute accounting events such as year-end closing, audits, tax filings, transfer pricing, and ERP development
  • Perform administrative duties like record keeping, contracts, meeting documentation, and filing

Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree in Business, Accounting, or Finance from an accredited four-year college or university
  • Minimum of 5 years of accounting experience with at least 5 years focused on management-level financial statement closing, audit, tax, and ERP development
  • Proficiency with MS Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and ERP systems (JD Edwards)
  • Accounting certification (CPA, CMA, CGA, CA) or equivalent is required
