Description

This role involves applying your mechanical manufacturing expertise in areas such as:

  1. Process Development: Plan, propose, and lead experiments to support design, development, and supply chain decisions. Collaborate with suppliers and engineering teams to develop manufacturing and test processes, including process flows, equipment/fixture designs, implementation schedules, and validation plans. Use industry-standard tools like DOEs and FMEA to identify risks and optimize processes. Develop robust failure analysis processes and drive continuous improvement.
  2. New Product Introduction: Lead cross-functional activities during NPI phases to ensure operational readiness for mass production. Review part design documentation for process capability alignment. Manage project issues related to materials, processes, fixtures, and equipment during NPI. Coordinate with suppliers on process development and data gathering. Establish validation procedures for tooling acceptance in development and mass production.
  3. Supplier Execution: Review supplier equipment, fixture design, process flow, and proposals. Identify and address shortfalls. Work with suppliers to map out process development, secure resources, and meet schedules. Assess supplier readiness and support build events. Evaluate suppliers' production capabilities and quality management. Lead suppliers in establishing and validating process capability to meet Apple standards. Implement quality programs and process control plans for early issue detection.

Minimum Qualifications

  • 10-15+ years supporting new product launches in Mechanical or Thermal Engineering roles
  • 10+ years of management experience
  • Willing to travel internationally up to 30%
  • BS in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent; MSME, MBA a plus

Preferred Qualifications

  • Strong understanding of Mechanical Design, Thermodynamics, Simulations, CAD, GDT, Failure Analysis, DOE, SPC, and Statistical Analysis
  • Experience with thermal manufacturing processes like fans, heat pipes, vapor chambers, cold plates, and heat fins
  • Proficiency in statistical analysis tools such as JMP
  • Experience in automation, engineering management, program management, and contract manufacturing
  • Excellent project management skills within a global matrix organization
  • Self-motivated, able to work independently
  • Experience working with international OEMs and contract manufacturers
