Position: Director of Engineering - Warwick Hotel Seattle

Primary Goal: To maintain the entire hotel facility, including the physical building, mechanical, electrical, HVAC systems, and related equipment, in accordance with energy conservation and preventative maintenance programs. Ensure the upkeep of guest areas to maintain an attractive hotel.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  1. Conduct walk-throughs and visually assess the safe and efficient maintenance and operation of the hotels physical structures, mechanical, electrical, HVAC systems, and related equipment.
  2. Verify completion of routine maintenance in public spaces, meeting rooms, ballrooms, outlets, back-of-the-house areas, and grounds. Ensure repairs, replacements, and renovations in offices and work areas are completed.
  3. Assist in hiring, training, supervising, and disciplining department staff and other staff under the Engineering Department, such as painters and groundskeepers.
  4. Adhere to all corporate purchasing policies, including managing bids, budgets, and schedules for outside contractors. Follow safety procedures per company and OSHA standards.
  5. Maintain effective energy management and preventive maintenance programs. Conduct training for other departments on safe and efficient equipment and energy use.
  6. Regularly inform the General Manager and department heads about the condition of the building and systems, providing cost-effective maintenance proposals. Input data and generate reports using computer systems.

SUPPORTIVE FUNCTIONS:

  • Supervise repairs and maintenance throughout the hotel.
  • Prepare technical data, bids, project plans, and alterations. Must have basic knowledge of building codes.
  • Participate in fire prevention, environmental health and safety, and engineering systems training. Attend relevant hotel operation meetings.
  • Oversee payroll and manpower scheduling.
  • Manage water treatment programs.
  • Conduct morning walk-arounds as required.

JOB KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  • Knowledge of computer accounting programs, budgeting, and math skills.
  • Thorough knowledge of mechanical equipment such as chillers, boilers, water softeners, and refrigeration systems.
  • Strong understanding of plumbing, electrical systems, and maintenance of utility consumption records.
  • Experience with office procedures, procurement, bidding, city codes, building laws, construction, and blueprint reading.
