About the Team
Model behavior makes current and future models better for people at scale.
This small team of expert tastemakers, designers, PMs, and researchers works across the company and is responsible for how OpenAIs models behave. We work on products with hundreds of millions of users and OpenAIs internal cutting-edge models.
About the Role
As a model behavior researcher at OpenAI, you will create evals to guide the research organization. The evals are the models: in this role, you will have a significant impact on steering the behavior of todays products and future AGI.
This role involves collaboration with alignment, training, data, RL, and post-training teams. Strong product intuition and understanding of classical AI alignment challenges are essential.
In this role, you will:
- Help decide how todays products and tomorrows AGI will act.
- Design evaluations to ensure OpenAIs models are aligned with this intent.
- Develop evaluation technology to oversee our models as capabilities advance.
You might thrive here if you:
- Have extensive experience with large ML codebases.
- Have published or worked publicly on language model evals used at major labs.
- Possess artistic, design, or notable product experience alongside research skills.
- Understand the importance of getting initial conditions right for AGI.
