Seeking a talented Parkinson's Disease & Movement Disorders Neurologist to join the Section of Parkinson's Disease Research, Education & Clinical Centers in Portland, OR.
Position Information
The VA Portland Healthcare Center is actively recruiting a board-certified staff physician in Neurology with a focus on Parkinson's & Movement Disorders (board eligibility considered) to provide care for our Veterans.
The neurologists at Portland VA manage a variety of movement disorder conditions, including Parkinson's disease, atypical Parkinsonian disorders, dystonia, Huntington's disease, and others. Responsibilities include inpatient neurology dutiescovering ward and consult servicesand participation in all aspects of the Movement Disorders Neurology program, including clinical, administrative, academic, and research components. The caseload may involve inpatient, outpatient, or both, with a range of neurological disorders. The candidate should be comfortable with DBS programming across multiple platforms and have some procedural experience with botulinum toxin injections for conditions such as hemi-facial spasm, migraines, blepharospasm, dystonia, and occipital nerve blocks; training can be provided if needed. The position offers a manageable volume and on-call schedule, with a maximum of 4 weeks per year. BC/BE in Neurology is required.
VAPORHCS is a major teaching and research site affiliated with Oregon Health & Science University (OHSU), offering opportunities to teach medical students, residents, and fellows, and to obtain an academic appointment. It hosts approximately 2,000 learners annually and ranks in the top 10 nationwide among VA research programs, with over 170 investigators and more than 1000 active protocols.
Work Schedule : Part-time, Monday-Friday, with possible evening or weekend work during on-call weeks (likely up to 4 weeks per year).
- Open to U.S. Citizens; non-citizens may be considered if qualified citizens are unavailable.
- Current, full, and unrestricted medical license in the U.S.
- Board Certification in Neurology; Movement Disorders Fellowship preferred, but Board Eligibility may be considered.
