About our Department or Division:
UMass Chan Medical School is consistently ranked among the top ten primary care teaching programs nationally and is committed to major expansions in many areas of basic and clinical research as well as promoting clinical excellence . UMass Chan Medical School and Childrens Medical Center, a member of the Childrens Hospital Association, is the only tertiary care hospital for children in central MA and offers comprehensive Pediatric services.
- The only medical facility in Central Massachusetts with physicians trained in pediatric epilepsy and electroencephalography (EEG) .
- Programs for cerebral palsy and myelodysplasia.
- State-of-the-art neuroimaging and neurophysiology services such as computed tomography (CT), magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), single photon emission computed tomography (SPECT), ambulatory EEG monitoring, inpatient EEG video telemetry, and evoked potentials.
- Neuropsychology program for assessing cognitive, academic, and behavioral/emotional functioning caused by neurological disorders, medical conditions, or developmental disabilities.
- Consultation in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit .
- Sleep studies to assist in the management of sleep disorders.
- Our team collaborates with the Center for Autism and Neurodevelopment Disorders (CANDO) to provide autism services.
Our Pediatric Neurology faculty:
- Participate in population health for a large catchment area with varied pathology.
- Practice general Pediatric Neurology or focus on a subspecialty area of interest.
- Work with Pediatric, Adult Neurology, and Child and Adolescent Psychiatry residents, with extensive collaborative research opportunities in this stimulating academic environment.
