The Congenital Heart Collaborative at UH Rainbow Babies and Childrens Hospital seeks a Medical Director of Adult Congenital Cardiology to join our growing team in the Division of Pediatric Cardiology. The Congenital Heart Collaborative (TCHC) is a pioneering partnership between the heart centers at University Hospitals Rainbow Babies & Childrens Hospital (Cleveland) and Nationwide Childrens Hospital (Columbus). The successful candidate will join an outstanding team of board-certified pediatric cardiologists and cardiovascular surgeons who model collaboration, teamwork, and dedication to their patients and partners. At UH Rainbow Babies & Childrens Hospital, you will have the chance to represent and further the divisions impact locally, nationally, and internationally. The Heart Center includes ten pediatric cardiologists, including interventional cardiology, electrophysiology, advanced imaging, fetal cardiology, adult-congenital heart disease, general cardiologists and congenital cardiovascular surgeons.
On the Rainbow campus, cardiac surgeries of all complexities are performed, as well as fetal cardiac interventions and complex pediatric electrophysiology and catheterization procedures in our state-of-the-art Catheterization and Electrophysiology Suites. A strong and growing fetal program performs over 1,000 fetal echocardiograms annually and has launched a highly successful fetal intervention program in conjunction with maternal-fetal medicine and TCHC colleagues. University Hospitals and Rainbows advanced imaging capabilities include transthoracic, transesophageal, fetal, and 3D echocardiography, cardiac MRI and CTA, cardiac stress MRI, fetal cardiac MRI, and 3D modeling/printing.
Position Overview:
The ideal candidate will possess state-of-the-art clinical skills in the management of complex adult-congenital cardiac patients, as well as established skills in leadership and collaboration. The ACHD Director will be expected to advance the regional and national reputation of Rainbows ACHD program, and must embrace a strong vision of programmatic growth. The candidate will lead ACHD accreditation, and will be supported by dedicated administrative and nursing support.
Opportunities for academic career advancement in education, research, and clinical excellence are readily available, and academic performance is expected. The Director will be appointed to both the Departments of Pediatrics and Internal Medicine at University Hospitals Cleveland Medical Center, and provide services at both Rainbow Babies & Childrens Hospital and in the world-class UH Harrington Heart & Vascular Institute. Direct reporting will be to the Chief of Pediatric Cardiology. The Director will have the opportunity to work collaboratively with the Central Ohio Adult Congenital Heart team at Nationwide Childrens Heart Center through TCHC.
The Director will be well-supported at a world-class childrens hospital that has over 60 years of experience in the care of pediatric and adult congenital cardiac patients; an outstanding educational and research enterprise at Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine, and an internationally recognized program partner with the Nationwide Childrens Hospital Heart Center. Primary Responsibilities:
Provide outpatient care of adult-congenital heart patients:
- Collaborate with Rainbow Pediatric Cardiology, and UH Harrington Heart & Vascular Institute Adult Cardiology
- Perform inpatient consultations at Rainbow and University Hospitals Cleveland Medical Center
- Guide ACHD curriculum for pediatric and adult cardiology fellows
Qualifications:
- MD, DO, or equivalent degree.
- Board eligible or board certified in Adult-Congenital Heart Disease, as well as either Pediatric Cardiology or Adult Cardiology. Additional fellowship training, board certification and other professional interests welcomed.
- Candidates with Internal Medicine / Pediatrics residency training, and eligibility for appointment at the associate or full professor level, are preferred.
