Job Description
The practice of radiography involves performing radiographic procedures by radiologic technologists responsible for administering ionizing radiation to patients of all ages for diagnostic, therapeutic, or research purposes. A radiographer performs radiographic procedures and related techniques, producing images requested by and for interpretation by a licensed independent practitioner.

- Ability to collect pertinent data about the patient, procedure, equipment, and work environment.
- Ability to analyze the information obtained and develop an action plan for completing the procedure.
- Basic knowledge of protocols, procedures, and equipment.
- Perform radiographic exams safely and accurately with reliable information regarding equipment, materials, and processes.
- Adjust protocols and procedures based on safe and effective practices.
- Evaluate exams or procedures to meet quality assurance standards.
- Provide clear and precise documentation for continuity and quality of care.
- Promote a positive, collaborative practice atmosphere within the healthcare team.
- Participate in professional organizations and scholarly activities to advance the profession.
Knowledge and Competency
- Novice-level experience; competent in routine studies.
- Working knowledge of technical standards, scope of practice, policies, safety, and service standards.
- Knowledge of imaging equipment, software, instrumentation, and ancillary patient care equipment.
Education, Certification & Experience
- Certification by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) or must obtain within the first 90 days of hire.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers certification.
