Summary
This position may be eligible for the Physician / Provider Contract Buy Out Program (CBOP), which allows the VA to buy out service contracts (such as Locum agreements, loan repayments, sign-on bonuses, or physician-owned practices) in exchange for employment at certain rural or highly rural facilities for a minimum of 4 years. Qualifications
To qualify, applicants must meet the basic and any additional requirements listed in the job announcement. Pending training or license completion may be considered, but employment is contingent upon meeting all requirements. Current VA physicians who met previous qualification standards are deemed qualified.
Basic Requirements
- U.S. Citizenship: Non-citizens may be appointed if qualified citizens are unavailable, per VA policy.
- Degree: Doctor of Medicine or equivalent from an accredited school approved by the Department of Veterans Affairs in the year of graduation.
- License: Current, full, and unrestricted medical license in a U.S. state, territory, or the District of Columbia.
- Residency Training: Completed approved residency training leading to eligibility for board certification, with specific accreditation standards.
- Residency Enrollment: Residents in accredited programs may be appointed as Physician Resident Providers (PRPs) on a limited basis.
- Language: Proficiency in spoken and written English.
- Preferred Experience: Inpatient Rehabilitation, Stroke Rehab, Cardiac Rehab, Pulmonary Rehab, MSK, EMG/NCV, TBI, SCI, Amputee, Orthopedic.
- Physical Requirements: Ability to perform activities involving standing, walking, lifting, and other physical tasks necessary for the role.
Duties
Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to: CARF-accredited acute inpatient rehabilitation coverage, electrodiagnostic studies, musculoskeletal ultrasound, injections, pain and spasticity management, Baclofen pump refills, and medical acupuncture.
