Position overview

NYC Health + Hospitals/Kings County is seeking a Director of Pediatric Surgery to join their team. Kings County Hospital, part of NYC Health + Hospitals, operates a Level 1 Trauma Center serving Brooklyn and Staten Island, and maintains a strong affiliation with SUNY Downstate Health Sciences University.

The mission of NYC Health + Hospitals is to provide comprehensive, high-quality health services to all New Yorkers, regardless of ability to pay, emphasizing social and racial equity.

Located in Brooklyns East Flatbush/Prospect-Lefferts area, Kings County serves a diverse patient population, primarily Afro-Caribbean, with English as the main language. Knowledge of French/Haitian Creole is helpful but not required.

Key responsibilities

1. Collaborate with the Chief of Surgery to ensure high standards of care in pediatric surgery.
2. Assist in quality assurance and performance improvement initiatives.
3. Manage administrative and clinical daily tasks, including scheduling.
4. Support growth in operative case volume.
5. Participate in recruiting staff for the division.
6. Lead efforts to obtain and maintain ACS Level 2 pediatric trauma verification.
7. Serve as Pediatric Trauma Medical Director upon verification.
