The Division of Nephrology, Department of Medicine at the University of Virginia (UVA) is seeking a full-time, board-certified or board-eligible Transplant Nephrologist to join our renal team in Charlottesville, Virginia. This is an open rank, tenure-ineligible position. Rank and salary will be dependent upon qualifications. The successful candidate should possess outstanding clinical, technical, and interpersonal skills, with training from a top-rated institution.

The transplant nephrologist will provide direct patient care and lead multidisciplinary teams in both inpatient and outpatient settings. Responsibilities include managing kidney and pancreas transplant recipients, conducting pretransplant evaluations, evaluating living donor candidates, and assessing organ suitability from complex deceased donors. The candidate will participate in clinical and operational meetings such as selection committees, candidate review boards, HLA review, post-transplant review, and living donor meetings. Engagement in quality improvement projects and clinical taskforces is expected, including serving as the lead transplant nephrologist on certain projects. The role involves teaching transplant nephrology and surgery fellows, nephrology fellows, medical house staff, students, and transplant advanced practice providers and coordinators. Research experience is preferable but not mandatory.

The UVA kidney-pancreas transplant program is a high-volume center with sustained growth, performing 203 adult kidney and/or pancreas transplants in 2023, with excellent patient and graft survival rates. Qualifications

Must be a board-certified or board-eligible Transplant Nephrologist.
