SUMMARY : The Neurologist is responsible for diagnosing and treating various neurological conditions, as well as managing and coordinating patient care throughout treatment.
DUTIES & ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS : Note: The following duties are performed by employees in this classification. However, employees may perform other related duties at an equivalent level. Not all duties listed are necessarily performed by each individual.
- Diagnosing and managing patients with neurologic disorders in both outpatient and inpatient settings.
- Maintaining and developing clinical programs and patient care delivery models that align with current professional standards and the organization's mission, vision, and values, with a focus on inpatient neurologic diseases.
- Participating in committee work for the Division, Department, and Hospital.
- Attending Division and monthly Departmental meetings.
- Working with the Chief of Neurology and curriculum committee to develop a curriculum for teaching Internal Medicine residents.
- Playing an active role in developing inpatient protocols for the management of neurologic emergencies (e.g., Stroke, Status Epilepticus).
- Teaching and supervising Internal Medicine residents and medical students.
- Providing evaluations and feedback to trainees.
- Assisting the Residency Leadership team in curriculum development for Neurology.
- Serving as a professional role model for trainees, peers, patients, families, and other healthcare team members.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS :
Education : Doctor of Medicine (M.D.) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (D.O.) is required.
Advanced fellowship training in neurohospitalist, neurovascular neurology, or neurocritical care is preferred.
Board certification or eligibility in Neurology.
Required Licenses / Certifications : Possession of a valid license to practice medicine in the State of California.
