HOMELESS CHILDRENS NETWORK MISSION STATEMENT
The mission of Homeless Childrens Network (HCN) is to decrease the trauma of
homelessness and domestic violence for children, youth, and families; to empower
families, and to increase the effectiveness of collaborative efforts among service
providers to end homelessness and poverty.
Homeless Children's Network is a community-based organization providing mental
health and family support services to children and families who are homeless and
formerly homeless. HCN works to decrease the impact of trauma and to empower
families. Our comprehensive clinical services enable us to work closely with each family
to understand their needs and to connect them to resources here or through other
providers. We form a trusted relationship and follow our clients over time, providing
security and stability that allows them to become more stable and confident, raise
healthy and emotionally independent children, and develop skills and training that will
help lift them out of the cycle of homelessness.
Position Summary
The Clinical Director provides leadership and oversight for clinical supervision, training,
and professional development across the organization. This role supports and mentors
clinical supervisors and staff, ensuring adherence to best practices and ethical
standards while fostering a collaborative and supportive work environment. A key
responsibility is leading the design, implementation, and evaluation of comprehensive
training programs that align with clinical needs, regulatory standards, and the
organization's mission. The Clinical Director develops curricula, delivers educational
content, identifies professional development opportunities, manages training resources,
and partners with academic institutions to enhance the traineeship program.
Additionally, the role contributes to strategic planning, program development, and
quality improvement efforts, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and industry
standards.
Key Responsibilities
Clinical Leadership:

• Provide leadership, guidance, and support to clinical supervisors, fostering a
  

positive and collaborative team environment.

• Provide clinical supervision and consultation to counselors, therapists, other clinical staff, and program leadership ensuring adherence to best practices and ethical standards.
• Provide mentorship and guidance to clinical supervisors, helping them develop
  

their leadership and supervisory skills.

• Develop and implement clinical supervision procedures and policies aligned with
  

organizational goals and best practices.

• Support or lead the recruitment, training, monitoring, and evaluation of the
  

performance of staff and contracted clinical supervisors, providing coaching,
feedback, and support for professional development.

• Address and resolve clinical conflicts within program services or related to clinical
  

services and supervision practices.

• Lead and motivate a team of clinical supervisors, fostering a positive and
  

collaborative work environment.

• Facilitate effective communication between clinical supervisors, staff, and other
  

departments within the organization.
Training Leadership

• Develop and deliver training programs for clinical supervisors, staff, and trainees
  

on relevant topics to HCNs mission and vision.

• Creating and updating training curricula based on clinical needs, industry
  

standards, and regulatory requirements.

• Developing and delivering educational materials, including lectures,
  

presentations, simulations, and other training resources.

• Determine and implement professional development opportunities, such as
  

workshops, conferences, and continuing education courses.

• Managing the training budget, allocating resources effectively, and ensuring
  

cost-effectiveness.

• Create and maintain relationships with academic institutions to ensure necessary
  

support and leadership with HCNs traineeship program.

• Collaborate with other departments, such as human resources and quality
  

assurance, to support training initiatives.

• Communicate training information to staff, management, and other stakeholders.
  

Strategic Planning

• Contribute to the organizations strategic planning process, identifying program
  

growth and development opportunities.

• Align program goals and objectives with the broader organizational strategy.
• Monitor trends and best practices to inform program innovation and development.
• Participate in research or quality improvement initiatives to enhance clinical
  

practice and outcomes.
Professional Development

• Engage in continuing education, professional training, and supervision to stay
  

current with best practices and mental health treatments.

• Participate in workshops, seminars, and conferences related to substance use and
  

mental health care.
Required Qualifications

• A Master's degree or higher in psychology, social work, counseling, or a related
  

field (e.g., MSW, MFT, LPC).

• Must be licensed in the State of California with either Board of Behavioral Sciences
  

(BBS) or Board of Psychology (BOP) At least 4 years post licensure.

• Approved to be a clinical supervisor by the appropriate Board requirements and
  

has been a clinical supervisor for at least 2 years.

• Minimum 5 years of experience providing direct services to children, youth, and
  

families.

• Experience working and engaging with youth and their families, youth in child
  

welfare system, youth within the juvenile justice system, youth with disabilities,
youth with co-occurring disorders, and/or gang-affiliated, etc.

• Knowledgeable about adolescent development; and experience in clinical
  

treatment, healing arts, and intervention techniques/approaches to youth
development.

• Knowledge of youth services in San Francisco from which clients can benefit.
• Knowledgeable and experience with Medi-Cal or Drug Medi-Cal services.

• Ability to diagnose mental health disorders and develop treatment plans.

• Crisis intervention and problem-solving skills.
• Cultural competence and sensitivity when working with diverse populations.
• Must exhibit leadership ability, have excellent written and verbal communication
  

skills.

• Knowledge about diverse cultures and ability to provide competency in working
  

with youth and communities of racial, cultural, ethnic, and sexual differences.

• Ability to pass a criminal background check.
• Detail-oriented and well organized.
• Able to establish and meet deadlines.
• Has a passion for developing and sustaining quality services for youth and
  

families, and a desire to learn and understand needs of HCNs constituents, staff,
and partners.
