The Department of Surgery, Division of General Surgery at St. Elizabeths Medical Center, a member of the Boston Medical Center Health System, is seeking a full-time, Board-Certified, fellowship-trained general and hepatobiliary and pancreatic (HPB) surgeon. This position offers an outstanding opportunity for an accomplished mid-career HPB surgeon with expertise in complex liver, pancreas, and biliary tract procedures, including minimally invasive and robotic-assisted surgical techniques.
The successful candidate will play a key leadership role in advancing the HPB surgical program at St. Elizabeths Medical Center. The ideal candidate should have an extensive background in hepatobiliary and pancreatic surgery, with a strong commitment to clinical excellence, innovative research, and medical education. A strong track record in leading collaborations research and publishing on optimizing surgical outcomes is highly desirable. Leadership in multi-center studies and contributions to global HPB surgical advancements will be valued in this role.
Clinical responsibilities will include office practice, hospital consultations, and a high volume of complex HPB surgical cases. The ideal candidate should demonstrate a commitment to multidisciplinary collaboration, patient-centered care, and a data-driven approach to improving surgical outcomes. Experience in mentoring surgical residents and medical students will be considered an asset in fostering the next generation of surgeons through teaching and research initiatives.
St. Elizabeths Medical Center, located in the Brighton neighborhood of Boston, serves as the tertiary referral center for Steward Health Care in Massachusetts. The hospital offers access to state-of-the-art surgical facilities and is well-positioned to expand its HPB surgical services. The selected candidate will have a faculty appointment at Boston University Chobanian & Avedisian School of Medicine, commensurate with experience and academic achievements.
Requirements
- Board Certified in General Surgery
- Fellowship-trained in Hepatobiliary and Pancreatic Surgery (HPB)
- Eligible for Massachusetts Medical License
- Minimum of five (5) years of General Surgery experience, with demonstrated leadership in HPB surgery and program development
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills to foster a culture of patient safety and interdisciplinary collaboration
- Demonstrated commitment to evidence-based practice, patient-centered care, and surgical education
- A passion for innovation in surgical techniques, clinical research, and performance improvement initiatives
- Proficiency in Spanish is preferred to better serve the diverse patient population
