Job Summary:

The Mohs/Histology Technologist performs routine and non-routine technical and administrative duties in the clinical histology laboratory. The role requires independent judgment in methodology selection and problem-solving, primarily preparing surgical pathology specimens for diagnosis. Responsibilities include organizing specimens, ensuring accurate labeling, preparing them for processing, and maintaining laboratory equipment and supplies. Accurate specimen processing is critical for patient care, diagnosis, and treatment decisions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and maintain surgical blocks, stain, coverslip, label, and deliver materials, ensuring quality assurance.
  • Organize specimens for storage, perform data entry, and manage specimen retrieval and labeling in the LIS system.
  • Monitor and record temperatures of laboratory equipment, perform routine maintenance and cleaning.
  • Prepare staining solutions, wash glassware, and assist with chemical stock management.
  • Maintain and clean histology equipment, follow safety protocols, and manage archived slides and blocks.
  • Perform all procedures efficiently and accurately.

Work Location:

Onsite in Aurora, CO.

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Histology Tech I: 2 years laboratory experience or equivalent education/experience.
  • Histology Tech II: 5 years laboratory experience or equivalent.
  • Histology Tech III: 6 years laboratory experience or equivalent.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience organizing specimens and operating complex machinery.
  • Experience with Epic, Kronos, and HealthStream.
  • Bilingual in Spanish.

Conditions of Employment:

  • Current BLS certification.
  • Ability to work onsite and travel as needed.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Organizational skills, attention to detail, knowledge of medical terminology.
  • Ability to follow protocols, recognize discrepancies and hazards, communicate effectively, analyze data, and complete tasks timely.
