Responsibilities

  • Provide pre-operative, intra-operative, and post-anesthesia care
  • Perform general and regional anesthesia for a wide range of surgeries (cardiac, orthopedic, urology, thoracic, ENT, etc.)
  • Supervise and educate CRNAs, residents, and medical staff
  • Provide anesthesia in various areas: GI/endoscopy, IR, ICU, cardiac cath lab, ECT procedures
  • Participate in quality improvement, morbidity and mortality reviews, and departmental meetings
  • Comply with all documentation and record-keeping requirements in the VA's EHR
  • Be available for emergency procedures during on-call shifts (respond on-site within 60 minutes)
  • Maintain communication with other departments for patient management and coordination
Qualifications
  • Board Certified or Board Eligible in Anesthesiology
  • Active, full, and unrestricted license to practice medicine in any U.S. State, Territory, Commonwealth, or the District of Columbia
  • Current AHA BLS and ACLS
  • NPI report printout
  • Active DEA license
  • Must be able to pass a federal background investigation
All candidates must be able to:
  • Sit, stand, walk, lift, squat, bend, twist, and reach above shoulders during the work shift
  • Lift up to 50 lbs from floor to waist
  • Lift up to 20 lbs
  • Carry up to 40 lbs a reasonable distance
  • Push/pull with 30 lbs of force
