Position Description
The University of California, Irvine Department of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery is seeking qualified candidates to join our expanding department as an academic Laryngologist for appointment at the Assistant, Associate or Full Professor level. The academic appointment may be in the Health Sciences (HS) Clinical or Clinical X Series, depending on experience and extent of research effort. Both HS and Clinical X faculty provide patient care; teach fellows, residents, and medical students; perform public and University service; and contribute to scholarly activities, but Clinical X faculty are expected to conduct more substantial research.
- Criteria for the Professor of Clinical X Series: The incumbent will be expected to conduct substantial research; provide patient care; teach fellows, residents, and medical students; and perform public and University service. Excellent teaching is essential criteria for appointment in this series. An academic appointment in the Clinical X series also confers membership in the UCI Academic Senate.
- Criteria for the Health Sciences Clinical Professor Series: The incumbent will be expected to teach fellows, residents, and medical students; provide patient care; contribute to scholarly activities; and provide public and University service.
Applicants must possess an M.D. or equivalent Degree, board certification or eligibility in Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery and have completed a fellowship in Laryngology. The successful candidate will actively participate in the departmental teaching mission and provide excellent patient care, perform university and public service, and be active in research.
