A new space race has begun. True Anomaly seeks those with the talent and ambition to build innovative technology that solves the next generation of engineering, manufacturing, and operational challenges for space security and sustainability.

OUR MISSION

The peaceful use of space is essential for continued prosperity on Earthfrom communications and finance to navigation and logistics. True Anomaly builds innovative technology at the intersection of spacecraft, software, and AI to enhance the capabilities of the U.S., its allies, and commercial partners. We safeguard global security by ensuring space access and sustainability for all.

OUR VALUES

  • Be the offset. We create asymmetric advantages with creativity and ingenuity
  • What would it take? We challenge assumptions to deliver ambitious results
  • Its the people. Our team is our competitive advantage and we are better together

YOUR MISSION

Software is the central nervous system for True Anomalys engineering and product thesis. Software bridges the gap between military objectives, theoretical astrodynamics and the human and autonomous control of spacecraft and ground systems in time and space. True Anomaly is seeking a highly experienced Senior Visualization Software Engineer to contribute to the continuing evolution of our complex spacecraft command and control, mission planning, and modeling and simulation software.

This is a frontend development role focused on pushing our capability to implement compelling, intuitive, impactful, and pleasing visualizations of complex space domain data. This will include traditional chart and graph style data presentation, but the focal skill set is on innovating how we present data in less conventional 2D and 3D forms. These emergent presentations will provide space operators with increasingly powerful decision aids that amplify and accelerate their effectiveness. All of this must be built on a strong foundation of proven modern production-quality web application development.

The application we are building is Mosaic, True Anomalys space ground system software. In Mosaic we seek to bring command and control, mission planning, training and education, and modeling and simulation together in a modern enterprise class application that drives space superiority. Space industry experience is not strictly required for this role but could be helpful. What is most important is deep demonstrated experience at the cutting edge of data visualization. This could come from experience in the gaming industry, geospatial application development, or similar boutique data presentation fields and applications. Youll have ownership of challenging, greenfield visualization problems and a chance to fundamentally impact the outcome of future conflict (and the future of the company), all while enjoying world-class benefits including platinum healthcare, flexible work hours/location, highly competitive compensation and a generous stock options package.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Build complex web technology-based frontend space ground system software in line with product requirements and UX / UI designs
  • Set the quality and impact bar for data visualizations both conventional and cutting edge, 2D and 3D
  • Write testable, scalable, maintainable, and extensible code that follows organization and industry best practices
  • Consistently deliver mostly bug free features on time in a high paced work culture
  • Collaborate with cross functional teams including space operators, designers, backend engineers, and astrodynamics algorithm engineers
  • Contribute to conversations concerning full-stack system and architectural design of complex multi-serviced space ground system and simulation software

QUALIFICATIONS

  • 7+ years of software development experience
  • Proven expertise in Three.js, React Three Fiber, Babylon, or other web-based 3D libraries and frameworks with support skills such as shader development
  • Deep working knowledge of React and key React support libraries such as Jotai, TanStack, MUI, and D3
  • Experience working with RESTful, WebSocket, and gRPC based services
  • Comfort with Git and Agile tools and processes
  • Comfort both contributing to existing systems and building from scratch

PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

  • A strong engineering background in school and/or work experience ideally in Software Engineering, Math, Physics, or other related fields
  • Experience building, shipping, and maintaining real production software (not just demoware and prototypes)
  • Experience with game engines (Unity, Unreal, Godot, etc.)
  • Experience using React to build complex yet performant data rich/dense applications
  • Working knowledge of testing frameworks like Jest, Mocha, or Chai
  • Experience building custom UI component from scratch or built up from existing libraries
  • Experience in UX/UI design and support tools like Figma
  • Strong collaboration and communication skills that let you thrive in a culture that values respectful, professional, and constructive conflict

COMPENSATION

  • Washington D.C. Base Salary: $160,000-$225,000
  • Equity + Benefits including Health, Dental, Vision, HRA/HSA options, PTO and paid holidays, 401K, Parental Leave

Your actual level and base salary will be determined on a case-by-case basis and may vary based on the following considerations: job-related knowledge and skills, education, location, and experience.
