Engineering Manager

directs the activities and operations of an engineering department/project team through assigning, coordinating, reviewing, and participating directly in the design, development and inspection of technical or engineering work/projects. Develops and implements standards, policies and procedures for engineering and technical work performed in the relevant department/project team. Direct Reports May Include: Engineer/Engineering Technologist/Specialist, Writer, Technical; Administrator, Support Services; Assistant, Technical Library; Coordinator. Immune Specific Accountabilities Recognizes and understands flight/product safety critical parts and processes. Responsible for immediately reporting flight/product safety concerns. Participates in proactive risk analysis of flight/product safety critical parts and processes. Recognizes and understands the Just Culture policy. Specific Accountabilities Plans, organizes, directs and controls the activities and operations of an engineering department/project team. Develops and implements policies, standards and procedures for the engineering and technical work performed in the department/project team. Consults and negotiates with clients to prepare specifications, explain proposals and present engineering reports and findings. Assigns, coordinates and reviews the technical work of the department or project teams. May participate directly in the design, development and inspection of technical projects or in the engineering work of the department/project team. Oversees engineering projects to ensure they are technically sound and in compliance with all internal and external regulatory standards. Monitors the progress of on-going projects, makes recommendations for improving the process to meet the needs of the end-users, performs job cost reporting, budget analysis and reporting of overall project control. Determines if assistance is required from outside contractors, initiates arrangements, provides technical data and assists contractors with related support services. Exercises authority in hiring, training, career development, performance appraisal, salary adjustments, promotion, discipline, health, safety and the general employee relations of direct reports. Actively participates as a member of the appropriate management team(s), assisting with the development and realization of departmental strategic plans, budgets, goals and outcomes. Carries out special projects as assigned. Required Skills/Experience Strong planning, organizational, analytical, leadership, interpersonal, decision making, oral and written communication skills. Strong project management skills. Working knowledge of PC's in the current company operating system environment. University degree in an engineering discipline; or equivalent. Experience in the engine maintenance repair and overhaul space Extensive experience in an engineering discipline, including minimum of 2 years supervisory experience. Salary Range: $111,078 – $139,128 Background Information The typical minimum level of education to perform this job competently is equivalent to completion of a university (bachelor) program in a specialized field of study and work. The work requires a sound understanding of the underlying theoretical principles and concepts associated with the subject area and an understanding of the relation of these to the responsibilities of the job. This specialized training is often recognized by a degree and/or professional designation. Directly/indirectly related work experience representing continuous learning and required for someone to perform this job competently is three to six years.
