SUMMARY

Functions as an experienced technician who is able to perform diagnosis and repairs of most vehicle components without supervision required, and who has previously worked as a B Class, or above, general service technician.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Work at customer job sites.

Perform unsupervised work as outlined on repair order with efficiency and accuracy, in accordance with dealership and factory standards.

Perform major component repairs and/or overhauls.

Diagnoses vehicle problems based on customer complaints and inspection.

Diagnose cause of most malfunctions and performs repairs.

Performs electrical and/or air conditioning system repairs.

Daily communication with the service department of agenda for workflow accommodations

Communicate with parts department to obtain needed parts.

Communicate with service department regarding non-account receivable (cash) customers

Saves and tags parts of the job if under warranty or if requested by the customer. Track warranty parts back to the dealership.

Examine assigned vehicle to determine if further safety or service work is required or recommended.

Communicate with service advisor immediately if additional work is needed, if work outlined is not needed, or if repairs cannot be completed within the promised time. Determine warranty before job starts.

Documents all work performed and recommended on the repair order. Open Electronic Diagnostic System (EDS) cases on all Cummins work. Open Total Customer Solutions (TCS) cases with MX Wiring, ABS or any general questions.

Consistently maintain greater than 80% productivity and greater than 95% efficiency.

Perform monthly inventory of parts and company tools

Road tests vehicles

Assist other technicians in major repairs.

Participate in manufacturer-sponsored training programs, schools, and events.

Keep abreast of manufacturer technical bulletins.

Inspects and test drives newly delivered vehicles for obvious damage and missing major components and drivability functions.

Installs optional equipment specified by the customer or dealer and reports machinery defects or malfunctions to supervisor.

Work in a team environment.

Ensure that customers' vehicles are kept clean. Notify service advisor immediately of anything that has happened to change the appearance or condition of the vehicle.

Keeps shop area neat and clean including emptying trashcans, when needed. Keep customers work area clean.

Keep the service truck clean and neat. Wash truck once a week.

Maintain and is accountable for all dealership-owned tools and manuals. Return them to the proper place and in the same condition as they were received.

Understands, keeps abreast of, and complies with federal, state, and local regulations, such as hazardous waste disposal, OSHA Right-to-Know, etc.

Operates all tools and equipment in a safe manner and reports any safety issues immediately to management.

Obtain 90% passing grade during Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) and/or vendor training.

Keep current on all Peterbilt online training with 90% grade.

Adhere to and promote all existing health and safety policies in the workplace to reinforce the Hunter culture of a safe work environment

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE Vocational/technical school graduate with a minimum of five (5) years related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.Must have experience in engine and driveline troubleshooting; electrical repair and air conditioning systems; must have component overhaul experience and/or specialty (A/C or electrical) experience.Must have good supply of most hand tools to complete most repairs
