Maintenance Assistant
Responsibilities
:
Perform routine building maintenance duties and general repairs on all five parish buildings and grounds in the following areas: painting, minor electrical and plumbing, carpentry, brick and mortar repairs, basic landscaping and snow removal. Janitorial duties also included.
Assist with maintaining operating excellence of all five parish buildings to ensure parishioners, pastoral staff, teachers, and school administration have a safe, clean, and smoothly functioning physical plant environment.
Assist with preventative maintenance, as well as safety and energy conservation inspections for all five parish buildings.
Assist with stocking cleaning supplies, paper products, building supplies and materials as needed.
Perform work to support events and other requests from staff members including events' set-up/take down and accommodation of special requests.
This position reports to the Maintenance Manager.
Qualifications :
Minimum of 5 years' experience working in operations/maintenance of a commercial institutional facility.
High energy, conscientious, self-starter. Dependable, honest, reliable.
Team player with a cooperative, friendly demeanor, as well as strong organizational skills and communication skills.
Ability to present oneself professionally and have good customer service qualities.
Works well with individuals having a wide range of personalities and abilities.
Comply with all safety and health regulations.
Must be able to lift 50 pounds or more.
Willing to work weekends and overtime when needed.
Familiarity with Catholic Church and School operations helpful, but not necessary.
Must obtain a Protecting God's Children Certificate.
Understand and abide by the Archdiocese of Detroit contract for employment and the specifications it contains regarding the expectations of a Catholic Church and School employee.
Willing to support and uphold Catholic moral teachings and lead a life consistent with the Catholic faith.
