We are looking for a Instrument Technician III to join our Chemical Intermediates (CI) team in Geismar, LA.

With more than 600 products in its portfolio, in particular amines, diols, polyalcohols, acids and specialties, the Intermediates division offers innovative solutions for a wide range of industries - from coatings and plastics to pharmaceuticals and crop protection.
As a member of the CI I&E maintenance team, you will be responsible for calibrating, installing, and maintaining the instrumentation and controls systems across our units. In this position you will interact daily with your team members, the I&E supervisor, maintenance engineers, and specialists. You will also regularly interact with operations personnel, such as operators, production leaders, operations engineers, and technology team members. You will be responsible for performing and documenting maintenance activities and for providing periodic reports for management. You will also be expected to maintain contact with peers across the Geismar site, with counterparts in other companies within the BASF Group as well as those in other companies via industry organizations. This position works under a 4/10 schedule, Monday-Thursday.
During your 10-hour shift as a Instrument Technician III, you will
Install, wire, calibrate, and repair a wide variety of analog and discrete chemical process instrumentation and valves including those for measurement and control of fluid flow, pressure, temperature, level, pH, density, and position.
Have excellent troubleshooting skills and must be able to read P&ID's, flow diagrams, single line diagrams, loop diagrams, wiring schematics, sequence charts, and interlock tables. You must also be able to use manufacturers' technical literature available on-line and communicate regularly with vendors' technical representatives.
Have knowledge of DCS, PLCs, and local control systems of which various control parameters include electrical, pneumatic, nuclear, mechanical, hydraulic, and wireless. Awareness of proportional and PID control modes is required. A basic understanding of process analyzers is also a requirement.
Perform and document preventive maintenance activities and inspections including field and bench calibration of process instruments, and regulatory and quality instrument proof testing (SIS, ISO, PSM), during both normal operations and plant shutdowns or turnarounds.
Collaborate and communicate effectively with production personnel, maintenance personnel, supervision, engineering, and external suppliers.
Ensure compliance with environmental, health, safety, and quality regulations.
If you...
Hold a High School Diploma or GED
Have completed an Industrial Instrumentation trade program or applicable trade school program. Having an ISA certification is a plus.
Possess 2+ years of experience in plant instrumentation maintenance. Having industrial construction experience will be beneficial.
Are knowledgeable of using common instrumentation tools such as communicators, calibrators, tablets, and laptops.
Have experience interfacing with DCS, PLC, and Safety PLCs, such as Foxboro, DeltaV, Rockwell, HIMA, and/or Triconex it will be highly valued.
Are familiar with utilizing computerized maintenance management systems, such as SmartPlant Instrumentation (InTools) and SAP, for data entry, diagnostics, and documentation of management activities.
