General Purpose:
The Pricing Analyst is responsible for supporting the firm's strategic pricing initiatives by conducting financial analyses, developing pricing proposals, and managing alternative fee arrangements (AFAs). This role provides critical support to attorneys, practice groups, and management with budget creation, profitability analysis, and competitive pricing strategies to enhance client relationships while optimizing the firm's financial performance.
Essential Duties/Responsibilities:
Pricing Strategy & Financial Analysis Assist leadership in crafting innovative and competitive pricing strategies that will win work and enhance firm profitability. Develop and implement pricing strategies that align with firm-wide financial objectives. Build sophisticated financial models to assess the impact of pricing proposals and contribute to creative pricing solutions. Conduct profitability analyses of timekeepers and existing / potential client engagements to inform strategic decision-making. Identify key risks and drivers of fee magnitude to build robust pricing models for broader implementation. Perform sensitivity analyses to support pricing decisions. Client & Matter Management
Develop practical tools such as budget templates to enhance fee accuracy and promote legal project management discipline. Monitor and assess active alternative fee arrangements (AFAs) and budgets to ensure profitability. Collaborate with attorneys to implement effective budgeting, rate arrangements, and matter management strategies. Coordinate with billing teams to ensure all pricing arrangements, rates, and client notes are properly documented in billing systems. Rate Management
Support the annual timekeeper rate setting process, including identifying industry benchmarking, providing competitive intelligence, and development of rate recommendations. Support the annual client rate review process, including identifying clients requiring advanced notice for rate increases or special e-billing requirements. Help maintain timekeeper, client, and matter-level rate structures in the firm's financial system. RFP & Client Proposal Support
Support the development of pricing components for client RFPs, pitches, and proposals. Analyze and classify historical client/matter data to inform pricing proposals. Perform primary department review of Outside Counsel Guidelines in conjunction with the firm's Business Intake Process. Work with attorneys to understand client priorities and develop negotiation strategies for rate discussions. Analytics & Reporting
Support management on special projects as they relate to billing processes, pricing, and profitability. Create and maintain reports for practice groups and management on rates, profitability, and pricing metrics. Develop visualizations of complex financial analyses using business intelligence tools. Provide actionable financial insights to optimize pricing decisions. Assist in developing and documenting processes related to pricing and annual review of rates. Support the Analytics team in day-to-day and monthly tasks associated with updating critical data and preparing productivity reports. Perform additional duties and tasks assigned, demonstrating flexibility and a commitment to supporting the firm's overall objectives.

Job Qualifications (Education, Experience and Certification):
Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, economics, business analytics, or related field 4+ years of experience in financial analysis, pricing, or similar roles, preferably in a law firm or professional services environment Proficiency with Microsoft Excel including formulas, pivot tables, and basic data visualization Competency with other Microsoft Office 365 applications Ability to communicate clearly and concisely. Experience with legal financial systems (Aderant, Elite 3E) and business intelligence tools (Power BI, Tableau, Iridium BI) preferred Working knowledge of databases and cube structure a plus Basic understanding of financial concepts and business metrics Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and work under tight deadlines Strong interpersonal skills with ability to build relationships with attorneys and staff at all levels Keen attention to detail and commitment to data accuracy and integrity Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive financial information Eagerness to learn and develop professional skills
