Description
The purpose of the Utility Worker Shelters/Depot/Building and Grounds position is to ensure that all bus stops, bus shelters, the Depot, and or the GoRaleigh facility are as clean and presentable as possible. Includes maintenance, installation, and repairs of transit bus stops and shelters. Ensure that the fleet is fully clean and prepared for service. To assist the maintenance department with the upkeep of the fleet, maintenance shop, shelters, and operations facilities.
Essential Functions / Process Responsibilities include the following; other duties may be assigned as necessary: Ensure all transit stops and shelters are maintained at a high level of cleanliness including but not limited to cleaned of debris, trimmed, raked, and free of graffiti
Pressure washing of shelters and GoRaleigh facilities
Record and report mileages of all vehicles that are fueled
Vehicle exterior and interior of assigned company vehicle is cleaned and maintained
Vehicle emergency equipment (fire extinguisher, body-fluid kit, first aid kit) fully stocked and functional
Detailed record keeping of services performed
Inspect and document fleet damage and communicated to the manager/supervisor
Work area maintained according to all OSHA, and EPA regulations
Work area cleaned, mopped and trash disposed of daily
Assist maintenance staff and manager as needed
Report any needed shelter repair or vandalism to supervisor
Gathers and disposes of rubbish and waste materials by hand or with the use of powered equipment
Observes appearances and conditions of premises and equipment; reports needed repairs, safety hazards, or conditions requiring outside vendor services
Washes walls, ceilings, windows, mirrors, and fixtures using both step and extension ladders
Cleans grounds and parking lots of litter, glass, or other debris
Requirements
Job Requirement
Preferred Education and Experience:
High school diploma or GED and valid North Carolina driver's license with CDL endorsement is required
Aptitude to learn and stay current with new strategies as they are introduced
Knowledge of standard methods, practices, tools, and equipment of the janitorial/landscaping service.
Knowledge of occupational hazards and safety rules
Knowledge of the proper use of chemicals, fertilizers, and pesticides.
Work on a daily basis with dangerous and toxic cleaning products that can be very harmful to one's health if not properly utilized. In some cases, these products give off unpleasant odors
Basic carpentry knowledge
