SHIFT ORE - Shift 1 (United States of America - Oregon) ROLE SUMMARY The Visual Quality Inspector, Rough Casting plays a vital role in ensuring our castings meet the highest standards of quality. In this position, you will perform a variety of inspection tasks using manual production tools, including straightening, buffing, and grinding parts to achieve precise dimensional specifications. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Conduct visual and dimensional inspections of castings following the technical requirements using measuring tools like calipers and pin gauges. Identify and confirm discrepancies using calibrated equipment and take corrective actions as outlined in the technical documentation. Rework parts within specified guidelines and route items to salvage operations when necessary, ensuring proper documentation is maintained. Collaborate with department leads to review rework and scrap castings, ensuring compliance with quality standards. Identify, record, and manage scrap castings that do not meet specifications, directing them to the designated areas. Complete all necessary paperwork including routing cards, salvage reports, and dimensional records accurately. Support the training of new personnel as directed by supervisors and leads. Safely transport materials using hand trucks, pallet jacks, carts, and tables. Maintain cleanliness and organization in your work area and ensure tools and equipment are well-kept. Report any equipment issues or unsafe conditions to supervisors promptly. Adhere strictly to safety protocols to promote a safe and efficient working environment. Participate in Lean Manufacturing and EHS initiatives to enhance operational efficiency. Conduct weekly housekeeping as per the 5S schedule. Follow work orders to perform operations on a variety of parts and products. Stay flexible with the ability to adapt to different manufacturing needs. Reinforce safety expectations and report any concerns regarding operational practices to supervisors. Ensure compliance with quality management systems and complete all training requirements. EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE High School diploma or equivalent (preferred). 1+ years of manufacturing experience is required; experience in operations is preferred. SKILLS REQUIRED Strong attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple priorities. Familiarity with quality inspection tools and procedures. Basic knowledge of quality management and mathematical skills. Excellent communication abilities and teamwork orientation. Capable of reading blueprints and adhering to standard operating procedures. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS Ability to remain stationary for extended periods. Occasional movement around the facility, including equipment handling. Frequent tasks that require attention to detail and manual dexterity. JOIN US!
