POSITION DESCRIPTION:
The Category Assistant supports the day-to-day operations and initiatives of their product category, assisting in product development, data management, reporting, and cross-functional coordination. This role serves as a key enabler for the category team, ensuring timely execution of category plans and providing administrative and analytical support to maintain category performance and efficiency.
ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Product Data Management: - Maintain accurate product specifications, pricing, and lifecycle status in internal systems. - Coordinate updates to digital and packaging content with marketing and design teams. Reporting & Analysis: - Generate weekly and monthly performance reports across sales, margins, and inventory. - Flag anomalies and trends in category performance for action by the leadership team. Project Coordination: - Track project milestones and deadlines for new product development initiatives. - Facilitate communication between departments to ensure timely project coordination. Market & Competitor Research: - Collect and compile competitive product and pricing information for benchmarking. - Conduct store visits and online audits to assess shelf presence and product trends. Promotional Support: - Assist in planning and execution of promotional activities, including price updates and product bundles. - Prepare marketing materials and product samples for trade shows and customer meetings. Inventory & Supply Chain Support: - Monitor stock levels and raise issues of low or excess inventory with demand planners. - Support SKU setup, vendor onboarding, and procurement documentation. Customer & Sales Team Support: - Respond to category-related inquiries from sales, customer service, and external stakeholders. - Compile product catalogs, presentations, and training materials for internal use. Cross-Functional Collaboration: - Participate in regular team meetings to provide updates and align on category initiatives. - Support testing and quality control processes by coordinating product evaluations. Process Improvement & Documentation: - Maintain category process documentation and identify areas for improvement. - Help implement new tools and systems to streamline category workflows. Administrative Support: - Organize and maintain team documentation, including project plans, meeting notes, and product records. - Assist with budget tracking and invoice processing for category-related expenses.
SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:
1. 1-3 years of experience in a product or marketing role. 2. Strong organizational and project coordination skills. 3. Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines in a fast-paced environment. 4. High attention to detail and accuracy in data management. 5. Strong written and verbal communication skills. 6. Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and ERP systems (NetSuite). 7. Analytical mindset with a willingness to learn financial and performance metrics. 8. Team-oriented with a proactive, can-do attitude.
