Starting Wage Range: $22.36/hr. - $29.00/hr.
Job Summary:
Contribute to the Division's responsibility to protect and preserve the Tribe's buildings and grounds in a manner which instills pride through providing a safe and professional environment in which staff and Tribal members conduct Tribal business. Perform custodial and maintenance services maintaining Tribal facilities in a safe, clean and professional condition.
Essential Functions: Performs basic janitorial and maintenance of the Tribal facilities and furniture; including but not limited to; collects and deposits cardboard, change lightbulbs, shampoo carpets, wax inlaid floor coverings, collect and dispose garbage according to contamination safety standards, washes doors and windows, moves office furniture, and operates various equipment i.e lawn mower, tractor, etc. Check fire extinguishers, smoke detectors, heating and cooling systems and corrects simple plumbing and electrical problems or refers problem to supervisor for resolution. Provides assistance with event setup/tear down for clinic functions. Responds to false alarms during business hours; i.e pulled fire alarms, etc. Performs a variety of other duties as assigned by supervisor. Education, Experience, Licenses, Registrations, and Certifications:
Requires a High School or GED and two (2) years of related experience OR an equivalent combination of training and experience. Must maintain a valid Oregon driver's license or obtain one upon hire, qualify for the Tribe's vehicle insurance, and provide proof of personal vehicle insurance. Qualifications:
Must have the ability to operate a variety of equipment and power tools, i.e., lawn mower, tractor, etc. safely. Must have the ability to work at times with minimal supervision. Must have ability to respond courteously and tactfully to complaints and client requests, and to maintain confidentiality. Occasionally works ten hours or longer a day, nights and weekends. Knowledge of and sensitivity to Native American culture required. Environmental Factors and Conditions/Physical Requirements:
Continually requires the ability to express or receive detailed information or important instructions through oral communication. Continually requires working with fingers rather than the whole hand or arm. Requires repetitive movement of wrists, hands and/or fingers. Often requires walking or moving about to accomplish tasks. Often requires bending, stooping and crouching which entails the use of the lower extremities and back muscles. Often requires standing and/or sitting for sustained periods of time, raising objects from a lower to a higher position and/or moving objects horizontally. Often requires lifting of up to 75 pounds. Due to the nature of the interactions with other employees and the public we serve, employees may be required to provide documentation of, or receive, certain health vaccinations. This position is frequently subject to inside environmental conditions which provide protection from weather conditions, but not necessarily from temperature changes, and is occasionally subject to outside environmental conditions. Work is typically performed under reasonably good working conditions; while exposure to dust, fumes, dirt, noise, heat, cold, and water may occur, such exposure is generally not present to the extent of being disagreeable. May be called upon to serve as a Disaster Reservist during Emergencies, or when the Tribal Emergency Operations Center is opened. Local travel is frequently required. Travel outside of the state is infrequently required.
