Summary

We are currently seeking a motivated, self-starting

Project Manager or Senior Project Manager

to support and help grow our

Water/Wastewater Practice in Iowa . This role requires a strong background in

potable water infrastructure , including treatment, storage, and distribution systems. Ideal candidates will bring experience managing projects from conceptual planning through design, bidding, permitting, and construction, with a particular focus on

delivering safe and reliable drinking water

to communities.

Projects within our Water group include

raw water supply (well and surface water intakes), potable water treatment facilities, pumping systems, elevated and ground storage, transmission and distribution networks , and regulatory compliance with state and federal drinking water standards. Wastewater projects may include treatment plant design, collection system assessments and rehabilitation, pump/lift stations, and process/mechanical piping systems. The Project Manager will also be responsible for client relationship management and mentoring junior team members.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Project Management Duties

Prepares scopes of services, detailed project budgets, and contracts.

Responsible for completing each project or assigned task on time and on budget. Regularly monitors project schedules and budgets throughout the project life cycle and leads formal project reviews.

Assigns and manages tasks, schedules, and budgets to project team members (including any sub-consultants). Leads project kickoff and status meetings.

Provides feedback and mentorship to junior team members and conducts performance reviews.

Ensures accuracy and quality through established QA/QC processes.

Proactively identifies and resolves technical, schedule, or financial issues.

Assists clients in contractor selection and bidding processes.

Oversees construction administration activities, including field observations and coordination.

Manages timely invoicing and collection.

Ability to manage multiple potable water and wastewater projects is .

Technical Project Delivery

Uses professional judgment to complete engineering tasks within regulatory frameworks, with emphasis on

drinking water standards (e.g., SDWA) .

Technically responsible for design and delivery of

potable water treatment systems, storage facilities, and distribution networks .

Signs and seals engineering documents as an authorized company representative.

Communicates independently with clients on technical matters, particularly regarding

safe water delivery, system optimization, and compliance with public health standards .

Business Development

Promotes cross-selling of firm services to existing and prospective clients.

Actively participates in professional associations related to

drinking water and public infrastructure , such as AWWA or WEF.

Provides input into marketing strategies and tracks client engagement.

Helps evaluate potential project opportunities and supports proposal development, including interviews, technical writing, and cost estimating.

Education and Experience

Must have a Bachelor’s degree in civil or environmental engineering. A Master’s degree in a related field is .

Must have 10+ or more years of relevant water/wastewater engineering experience.

The successful candidate must market water/wastewater services to new and existing clients, manage

potable water

design and construction projects (concept and final design), delegate work and coach staff.

Certificates, Licenses, and Registrations

Must possess a current, valid Professional Engineer (P.E.) license and have the ability to obtain licensure in one or more other states in which HR Green conducts business. The employee must be capable of driving/operating a motor vehicle for company business, and maintain a valid driver’s license in the state of residence.
