SET Environmental
A Rescue/Field Technician at SET Environmental is responsible to:
Provide site safety and technical rescue standby for customer's projects including confined space rescue and technical rope rescue
Assess potential hazards and draft written rescue plan
Identify and communicate potential hazards to all affected parties
Determine hazard controls and emergency contingency plans and make recommendations if needed
Ensure that required safety equipment and PPE is readily available and in good working order
Conduct daily job briefings with customers and employees
Follow handling, inspection, cleaning, and preventative maintenance guidelines for all rescue equipment so that it is in a constant state of readiness
Monitor areas for hazardous or potentially hazardous conditions
Assist with emergency First Aid as required
Supplied Air Bottle Watch, Fire Watch, and Confined Space Attendant
Ensure the health and safety of the crew, customer, and site by adhering to SET safety policies and procedures by identifying, communicating, and mitigating hazards
Take an active role on crews by participating in both scheduled and emergency response-based projects
Assist in loading equipment and supplies for project needs
Exert moderate physical effort, including lifting up to 50lbs
Work in a variety of weather conditions
Support of various environmental projects ranging from, but not limited to:
Confined Space Entry - CSE
Environmental remediation
Waterway response
Hazardous materials clean up
Perform other miscellaneous duties as necessary
POSITION REQUIREMENTS High school diploma or equivalent 3-5 Years of experience preferred in either Safety, Rope/Rescue, Hazmat, Industrial setting, etc. Available to travel out of state Valid Driver's License with good driving record that meets insurance requirements Must pass DOT physical including drug screen Must be over 21 years old Proficient with SCBA and other tight-fitting respirators Works well in stressful situations Must be willing to continue training and education throughout employment Ability to respond to out-of-town projects as needed Ability to speak, read, and write English sufficiently Ability to work in tight spaces and heights Comfortable working without a fixed schedule Ability to perform physical labor under direction of crew leads Industry/Construction experience preferred but not required Ability to use computers and phone apps and programs Illinois Office of the State Fire Marshal (OSFM) Rope Operations Certification or equivalent (Preferred) Illinois OSFM Confined Space Specialist Certification or equivalent (Preferred) Illinois OSFM Hazardous Materials Operations Certification or equivalent (Preferred) Incident Command System Training ICS (Preferred) Emergency Medical Responder, Emergency Medical Technician, or Paramedic (Preferred) Transportation Workers Identification Card TWIC (Preferred) Medical Training (Preferred) CPR/AED/First Aid (Preferred) OSHA 30 (Preferred) 40-hour OSHA HAZWOPER or ability to obtain Hazardous Materials Training (Preferred) Safety Training (Preferred)
