Droneshield
Work with cutting edge technology, making the world a safer and more secure place. DroneShield (ASX:DRO) offers an opportunity to solve some of the world's most challenging technical problems in Electronic Warfare, Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning, RF sensing, Sensor Fusion and distributed systems. Working with high profile customers across militaries, government agencies, airports, critical infrastructure, law enforcement and many others.
With one of the largest listed defense company market capitalizations in Australia and having raised approximately $250m in 2024 alone, DroneShield is undergoing hypergrowth stage, fueled by rapidly increasing use of drones for nefarious applications, from battlefield, to terrorism, to contraband delivery and commercial espionage.
About the role
DroneShield is seeking a highly capable Bid Specialist to manage and author key proposal responses-including RFIs, RFPs, RFQs, and other opportunities-across US and international defense security markets. This role is ideal for a strategic executor: someone who is equally comfortable managing a proposal and writing its core narrative. You'll work closely with Sales Directors, engineering teams, legal, finance, and the executive leadership group to produce high-quality, compliant, and compelling submissions. This is a hands-on, fast-paced role that sits at the center of DroneShield's growth strategy, contributing directly to our success
Responsibilities, Duties and Expectations
Lead the full lifecycle of proposal responses-from opportunity release to final submission. Write and structure persuasive, accurate proposal content across management, technical, and executive-level sections. Coordinate and consolidate inputs from cross-functional stakeholders including sales, engineering, legal, finance, and product teams. Develop and maintain proposal plans, compliance matrices, schedules, and internal review cycles. Facilitate reviews and feedback sessions (e.g. Red Team, Gold Team) to refine and elevate proposal quality. Build and maintain a content library of reusable templates, boilerplate content, and case studies. Support regional sales teams with proposal tools, process guidance, and scalable best practices. Qualifications, Experience and Skills
3-5+ years of direct experience in proposal development or bid writing, ideally within the defense, aerospace, or high-tech sectors. Strong working knowledge of government and defense tendering frameworks (e.g. ASDEFCON, ITTs, global defense tender platforms). Excellent writing and editing skills-you're confident crafting persuasive, well-structured content with minimal oversight. Strong organizational and project management abilities-able to manage multiple concurrent submissions under tight timeframes. Comfortable collaborating across diverse teams, including technical, commercial, and executive stakeholders. Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and collaboration platforms such as SharePoint and Microsoft Teams.
Note for recruitment agencies: We do not accept unsolicited candidates from external recruiters unless specifically instructed.
