Job Summary:

The selected candidate will be required to go on field service calls to inspect, repair, install, and start-up gear units and other transmission parts on customer sites upon the request of service manager. The technician determines the cause of failure and possible corrective actions. The selected candidate must be able to read and work from blueprints, parts lists, and assembly protocols. There will be use of parts washers, freezers, ovens, cranes, fork trucks, presses, torches, hand, and power tools. The selected candidate will be responsible for disassembling units, inspecting disassembled parts, write up and reporting failed parts, and advise on replacement parts.

Job Responsibilities: Service and maintenance on Flender standard gear units which include bevel, planetary, worm gear, mixer drive, mill drive, single and double screw extruder units, hoist and swing gear units, variator drives, marine drives, couplings and their subassemblies Troubleshoot errors and advise on corrective action Escalate technical issues to supporting engineering functions Self-motivated and able to think quickly and address issues as they arise Ability to work a flexible work schedule as required (weekends may be required) Ability to analyze and resolve issues independently and efficiently Write customer facing reports, including photography Create expense reports Required Knowledge/Skills, Education, and Experience:

10 years prior experience in power transmission, heavy equipment assembly, or wind gearbox applications. Equivalent of 5 years' experience in field service operations in power transmissions may substitute #1. Knowledge and experience with blueprints, metric system, work standards, ISO and quality documentation, basic gearing and bearings Advanced mechanical skills Experience with Microsoft Office, Outlook, Word, and Excel Physically and mentally able to work suspended from heights and in confined spaces Ability to climb stairs and ladders generally up to 125 meters in height or similar, ability to lift, push, pull, carry items up to 50 lbs. in weight, and the ability to stand, stoop, kneel, and bend for prolonged periods of time Flexible travel schedule High school diploma or equivalent Must meet body weight restrictions must allow safe use of ladders and equipment as required by the safety regulations Must pass a physical administered by a medical practitioner to ensure ability to safely perform the job functions and meet the physical demands of the position Driving is an essential function of the job and applicants must have a valid driver's license at the time of application with an acceptable driving record. Employees must maintain a valid license and acceptable driving record and may be subject to periodic DMV (department of motor vehicles) checks of their license. Qualified applicants must be legally authorized for employment in the United States. Qualified applicants will not require employer sponsored work authorization now or in the future for employment in the United States Preferred Knowledge/Skills, Education, and Experience:

Certification from MSHA Hands on work experience as a Field Service or Wind Technician on a Wind Farm Relevant work experience e.g. electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, maintenance/troubleshooting in a military, industrial, or automotive industry Lathe experience is helpful but not required
