Salary
Support Salary Grade S04:
$18.88 per hour; starting Under the Fair Labor and Standards Act this position is
exempt
from overtime. Actual salary placement will be in accordance with the salary procedures of the Frederick County Public School System.Please see linked salary scale for the full range
Role
Under the direction of the Warehouse Manager or Warehouse Specialist Lead, the Warehouse Specialist receives, stores, issues, preserves, inspects, packs, and accounts for inventory supplies and equipment.
Essential Functions
Reporting directly to the Warehouse Manager, the Warehouse Specialist performs the following duties:
Reviews and verifies inventory received against bills of lading (BOL), contracts, purchase requests, and shipping documents. Visually inspects, counts, and segregates incoming inventory supplies, equipment, repair parts and food products. Unpacks, unloads, and palletizes incoming inventory. Verifies unity of issue, item descriptions, quality and condition according to information shown on shipping documents. Segregates damage containers and supplies. Answers telephone. Assists with caller's inquiries on warehouse items and unit of measure questions. Records accurate telephone messages. Selects correct inventory for issue and shipment. Marks each item for delivery with correct MSR number. Maintains copies of customer material stock request in proper file. Addresses shipments to customers. Palletizes and shrink-wraps inventory for storage and shipment. Operates Material Handling Equipment (MHE) including manual/electric forklifts, handcarts, and dollies to load, unload, relocate palletize, and segregate inventory and equipment. Performs preventative maintenance checks and service on MHE. Inspects MHE for serviceability. Packs, crates, stencils, and bands inventory and equipment for shipment or storage. Constructs bins, shelving, and other storage aids. Cleans items for preservation and/or packaging. Maintains accurate item shelf/bin locations. Notifies Foreman of any changes immediately. Assists in conducting inventories and location surveys. Assists the Warehouse Foreman in solving discrepancies in stock. Completes inventory count sheets and records variances. Other Functions
Maintains cleanliness of the warehouse at all times. Acts as a back-up to the Couriers. Assists Delivery Specialist in making deliveries of equipment and/or inventory items to all FCPS offices and schools. Properly completes the route in the Courier's absence. Performs other duties as assigned by the Warehouse Manager.
Required Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent. Possession of a valid driver's license and ability to operate an FCPS vehicle in accordance with regulations. Ability to perform physical requirements of the position and to lift a minimum of 75 pounds. Effective oral and written communication skills. Must be at least 18 years of age. Capable of performing the essential functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodations. Regular and predictable attendance. Preferred Qualifications
Experience in warehouse and inventory control procedures. Experience in the storage and handling of supplies and equipment. Working knowledge of the general organization and functions of the major units of FCPS. Demonstrated ability to work independently with a minimum of supervision. Familiarity with the FCPS policies, goals and programs.
