Position Summary As a Industrial Machine Mechanic/Millwright specializing in our Metal Fabrication Department, you will be responsible for diagnosing, repairing, rebuilding, and maintaining mechanical and hydraulic metal-forming punch presses, metal spinning equipment, and CNC machines.
You'll also conduct inspections and oversee certain maintenance duties to make sure our machines are kept in good working order. What you'll do:
Establish a preventative maintenance program for all presses with the assistance of the maintenance team.
Develop documentation of machinery repair histories.
Build machine components to upgrade machine functionality and work with Engineering to ensure newly designed equipment meets standards for safety, performance, and efficiency.
Coordinate and collaborate with the Toolroom, Maintenance Technicians, EHS, and Engineering teams to ensure efficient machine operation and workplace safety.
Design, fabricate, and implement essential safety equipment to enhance the protection and functionality of plant machinery.
Perform installation of new equipment and relocation of existing equipment throughout the plant.
Diagnose machine malfunctions and operating difficulties.
Perform repairs and make adjustments, including temporary fixes to keep machines running safely while developing a plan for permanent repairs.
Set up new parts on the CNC machines (includes programming).
Setup, troubleshoot and repair of press automation systems.
Troubleshoot and repair machine controls including PLC's and safety controls.
Develop critical spare parts inventory for equipment in use.
Work with outside contractors and vendors for repairs and order supplies and parts as needed.
Provide emergency/unscheduled repairs of production equipment during production.
What you bring to the position:
High School diploma or GED required. A degree from a technical school preferred.
3-5 years of manufacturing experience required.
Possess relevant skills to enable manufacture of needed components using mills, lathes, surface grinders etc.
Ability to troubleshoot and repair machine controls including PLC's and safety controls.
Experience with mechanical and hydraulic presses is essential; experience with Injection Molding machines or Compression machines or Metal Spinning machines is a plus.
An understanding of load bearing properties of ropes, cables, hoists and cranes.
Ability to read schematic diagrams and blueprints.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; a team player who works well with others in an experienced Tool Room environment.
This role is a regular full-time position in Saint Louis Park, MN. Paid on-the-job training is provided to familiarize you with our plant machinery. Successful candidates will be periodically called upon to work at unusual times for long hours in emergency situations during machine breakdowns or significant changes in the production line.
