This is a high-level Heating Ventilation Air-Conditioning (HVAC) position that works independently, requires little to no supervision, and makes independent high-level decisions. This employee will assist with installs and replacements, maintain and repair all commercial-type HVAC equipment and have a proficient working knowledge of various building automation control systems. Duties include troubleshooting, repairing, and replacing defective equipment, components, and wiring. This employee will test electrical circuits and components for continuity and/or voltages using electrical test equipment, reassemble and test equipment following repairs, and inspect and test HVAC systems to verify system compliance with plans and specifications and to detect and locate malfunctions. The individual in this position must maintain the required certifications; i.e., a State Plumbing & Heating Contractor's License H-1, 2, or 3 or higher and a Universal Chlorofluorocarbon (Freon) recovery license to ensure compliance with all applicable industry standards, policies and procedures, including Occupational Safety Health Administration (OSHA) safety procedures. This employee will assist in training all new maintenance mechanics and work with and oversee their work in the field. The employee must have knowledge and the ability to work on chillers, boilers, cooling towers, chilled water pumps, hot water pumps, heat pumps, split HVAC systems, and packaged HVAC units. Must maintain a clean work area at all times. The physical duties include: walking, standing, sitting, bending, reaching and kneeling, stooping, lifting up to 25 lbs, and other activities associated with the primary responsibilities.
