Mechanical Maintenance Technician-MILL

The successful Smurfit Westrock team member will be working in a 24/7 continuous manufacturing operation. Employees must comply with all safety regulations and practices. Smurfit Westrock is a team based environment. We offer a competitive benefits package; Hourly rates range from $39.30 to $44.55 (shift), health, life, dental and vision plans, 401(K), Pension and employee assistance program, paid Holidays & Vacation (1-3 weeks based on experience). Relocation ($5,000 net) offered to eligible candidates.

Mechanical

Understanding of and experience with reading drawings, Bills of Materials, parts identification, planning and scheduling

Determine work procedures to assemble, dismantle and overhaul machinery and equipment

Work with a wide variety of precision tools

Perform a variety of maintenance related tasks in connection with the maintenance, repair and/or improvement to equipment

Able to troubleshoot, PM, and repair mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems.

Laser align equipment, rebuild pumps, change machine bearings, operate cutting torch, weld plate and pipe, safely troubleshoot and repair hydraulic components, etc.

Expertise with common paper mill equipment/components such as: conveyors, pumps, motors, gearboxes, compressors, rolls bearings, seals, chains, sprockets, couplings, cylinders, valves, etc.

Operate equipment such as hoists, cranes, fork-lifts, welding machines, burning rigs, etc.

What you need to succeed:

High School diploma or G.E.D.

5+ years of experience in an industrial or manufacturing environment

Have a minimum of 2 years full-time or part-time work experience in the last 4 years

Demonstrated the drive to achieve and have upward movement in various jobs

Self-motivated desire to learn

Capable of meeting physical requirements to include working weekends/holidays, around heat, noise, work inside/outside, etc.

Has the mechanical, mathematical, and verbal aptitude to learn positions

Proven record of performance

Play by the rules and work well with others

Able to complete and submit an employment application online

Able to operate in heavy manufacturing site and work variable schedule and overtime as needed.
